Prevent Eczema - Treatment Tips

Eczema is a skin disorder. Eczema may be of various types. In this condition, there may be red swollen tissues or bleeding dry sores. Eczema is a very painful and irritating condition. Eczema is characterized by appearance of red, itchy, and extremely dry patches and skin appears leathery. Eczema can affect any part of the body.


Eczema is quite a common condition. It affects all ages and races. Though it can appear in children and adult alike but it is mostly seen in babies. There may be pus filled blisters also due to infection coming along. Eczema is divided in many subgroups which depend upon the factor which largely cause the eczema.


Allergies to rough fabrics, dust, pollens, animal dander or other things may aggravate eczema condition. Like all other skin conditions, eczema can not be cured but yes, good news is eczema can well be treated and its flare-ups can be prevented by taking proper precautions.


The most important thing, which is recommended to patients of eczema, is avoid scratching. There is itching in eczema patches and person is tempted to scratch. Scratching aggravates eczema. Sweat also aggravates eczema condition. When you have got eczema condition, avoid those activities which cause too much sweating.


How can you prevent Eczema?

After bathing, you should pat dry your skin with a soft towel and also you can brush your skin by palms in rapid movements.


While your skin is still damp, apply suitable moisturizer or cream to seal the moisture in your skin. Specially, apply moisturizer on your legs, back, arms and sides of body.


Avoid excessive use of soap, especially harsh soaps. Use soap wherever, it is necessary.


For the people whose skin is prone to eczema, it is advised to apply very mild soaps and cleansers which do not remove natural oils or moisture from the skin.


This is essential to note that, do not dry your skin very harshly with towel; towel will remove all the moisture from skin which is quite harmful for it.


Do not scratch your skin even if you feel irritated or tempted to scratch. Instead of scratching, rub your skin gently with a flat hand. You should keep your nails cut because if you suddenly scratch with your fingers, you will get cuts on your skin by nails. This is a must precaution in case of children because children can not resist themselves from scratching.


Do not let strong chemicals or strong detergents touch your skin.


Some homemade eczema Treatments :

There are many homemade treatments to prevent eczema. But some people ignore them before giving them a try. They can successfully help to manage eczema condition.


Some home treatments can be bathing with green tea or spreading Crisco over the skin. Coconut oil is effective and proven remedy to relieve itching and irritation created by eczema.


Another thing you can do to prevent eczema is eating right. You can make a difference in your eczema condition by eating right kind of food. There are some foods which can trigger itching and hence eczema.


Try to eat food items which help cleanse the body and keep it hydrated and moist. Avoid eating much salty and spicy food; they can trigger and create itching in your skin. A common remedy for eczema treatment and prevention is blending juices of spinach, wheat grass, celery and parsley and drink that mixture. Another remedy you can try at home is drinking a tablespoon of corn oil at breakfast and dinner daily; it helps to manage the eczema condition.


Some Common Treatments for Eczema:

Apply ointments and lotions on the skin to keep it moist; it helps reduce symptoms of eczema.


To reduce itching and inflammation, take antihistamines.


Avoid harsh soaps and bubble baths. These things make skin dry and itchy.


For extremely severe sores which are oozing, topical steroids and anti-itching lotions are very effective.


Doctor may prescribe oral steroids for in case of severe eczema condition.
