Pyorrhea has become quite common nowadays and is the number one reason for tooth loss. In this ailment the membrane around the teeth gets affected and causes the formation of pus, shrinkage of the gums and ultimately loss of teeth. Any age group and gender can suffer from this problem which is caused due to the proliferation of bacteria on the teeth and gums.
Apart from the fact that it can cause the loss of teeth and even the supporting bone of the teeth, the oozing pus from the gums can enter the stomach and cause serious health problems. Lime and lemon are both high in vitamin C which strengthens the gums and teeth. It also helps to reduce the inflammation in the gums. Hence drinking juice of two limes/lemons in a day will be beneficial. Apart from this lemon is also helpful if used as a topical application.
Squeeze some juice of lemon on your toothbrush and brush your teeth with it. Keep squeezing till you are sure that all the teeth have been coated with the juice. Rinse your mouth with warm water after half an hour.
Salt is another one of the effective natural cures for pyorrhea. All you have to do is take some salt and rub it on the teeth and gums with your forefinger. Leave it on for about half an hour and then rinse your mouth with warm water. As an alternative you can also rinse your mouth with warm water containing sufficient amounts of salt. This remedy should be applied at bedtime and avoid eating or drinking anything after this for best results.
The juice of raw spinach is also a good food to cure gum and tooth problems. It not only cures pyorrhea, but also prevents it. Spinach juice is even more effective if combined with carrot juice.
For best result mix one cup of raw spinach juice with one cup of carrot juice and drink it in the mornings on an empty stomach for it to act as one of the natural cures for pyorrhea.
Unripe papaya is also an effective remedy for pyorrhea. This fruit is also rich in vitamin C and hence consuming it raw will help in stopping the bleeding from the gums and in curing the infection and inflammation.
Neem has been used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine for centuries for the treatment of several ailments especially those caused by infections. The best application of this herb is to use a thin branch of the neem tree as a tooth brush.
