Alveolar osteitis is another name that has been given to dry socket which is a condition that occurs after the extraction of a tooth. It is actually the dislodging of the blood clot that is formed in the socket of the tooth that has been extracted. It is because of the empty area that is left after the extraction of the tooth that the name dry socket has been derived.

The pain caused due to dry socket is almost unbearable and it can lead people into difficult situations that may lead to a complete loss of sleep. There are some herbal remedies for dry socket that have been enumerated below:

Herbal Remedies For Dry Socket

Clove Oil

Clove oil has served as the best and the oldest of all the herbal remedies available for dry socket since it has remained in use for toothaches for a very long time. It works in the form of an analgesic that is very helpful in preventing any sort of infection of the tooth and even helps in relieving the pain that is caused due to dry socket. Diluted oil of cloves can be applied on the affected area to get positive results.

This oil can also be used by dipping it in a small cotton ball and then placing it on the dry socket. Excruciating pain that is experienced due to dry socket can be prevented and at the same time infections can also be avoided by the use of this oil.

Tea

Cold tea can also be used as one of the effective herbal remedies for dry socket. Bags of tea can be placed on the dry socket area and then pressed on the teeth so that the pain can be eliminated from the area. It is the tannic acid content of tea that helps in getting rid of excessive pain caused due to dry socket.

Mustard Oil And Turmeric

A paste made out of mustard oil and turmeric can be stirred well and mixed to be applied on the dry socket area. This mixture is very helpful in relieving the pain and the inflammation that is caused due to dry socket.

The turmeric content of this mixture helps in preventing any kind of infection of the tooth because turmeric contain anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that are considered to be very helpful in warding off any kind of infection.

Valerian Root

Nature’s tranquilizer is the other name given to valerian root which has been in use since centuries. It works as a soother and a relaxant as it reduces the pain that is caused due to dry socket. It relieves the pain and makes it easier for an individual to get a good sleep that might be hindered because of the pain experienced due to dry socket.

The healing process of the tooth is also stimulated by the use of valerian root. People can also take valerian tea in order to relax the body and get good health that is required in healing any kind of infection.

Ginger

Ginger can be taken directly or used as an ingredient in tea to get relief from the pain and the inflammation of the tooth that occurs because of dry socket. It is one of the best herbal remedies for dry socket that can be tried out to get instant results. It is wise to use ginger in any form everyday to get better result.
