Is your nose bleeding? Is it a drop, a trickle or gushing blood? Nose bleeds occur due to many reasons. It may occur because you hurt yourself, due to dry air in summers or winters, due to picking your nose too much, due to severe cold, due to rubbing your nose or because you are allergic to something.

No matter what the reason, nose bleeds are very easy to cure at home. You will find the remedies in your pantry, in your freezer, refrigerator, your water sink or your stove. Take a look at the following remedies and chose the one that suits your nose bleed most.

Effective Home Remedies For Nose Bleeding

Vinegar

Vinegar can be used to cure trickling and heavy nose bleeds. Vinegar has qualities that can seal up the blood vessel that is bleeding. So all you have to do is dip a cotton ball into white vinegar and stick it up your bleeding nostril. The bleeding will stop soon.

Ice

Look into your freezer for a remedy if you have hurt your nose. Fill a sealed zip freezer bag with ice. Place the bag over the bridge bone of your nose and let it stay there well after the bleeding has stopped.

Wrap the ice bag in a towel or else the water from the melting ice will enter your nose. Ice not only compresses the bleeding blood vessel but also saves you from suffering from an inflamed nose.

Water

The best way to cure a nose bleed caused due to dry winter and summer air is to drink a lot of water. Dry air causes dehydration in the body which in turn may cause nose bleeds. Keep your body properly hydrated at all times.

It is advisable to drink 8 glasses of water a day but when there is dry air around drink a bit more. Breathe deeply while showering to allow moisture to enter your nose. Spraying your nose with a few drops of saline water is also beneficial.

Steam

Steam is a good way to moisturise your nose and helps with relaxing the blood vessels. Boil water and place it on a table. Sit down at the table lean over the boiled water and cover your head with a towel. Do not stoop too low; bend just enough to be able to take the steam in.

Vitamin C

Consumption of vitamin C foods such as oranges, apples and bananas keeps the moist lining in your nose moist thus preventing the blood vessels in your nose from breaking.

To avoid further bleeding or infections follow the given tips after a nose bleed:

• Do not pick, touch or blow your nose and sanitise your hands as often as you can.
• Do not smoke; avoid smoking; avoid smoky atmosphere as it can damage the lining within the nose.
• Drink a lot of fluids and keep your body well hydrated.
• If your nose bleeds often then check the humidity in your house.

The key is to keep your nostrils moist so drink lots of water and avoid foods that you are allergic to. Now sit back, relax and breathe easy!
