5 Natural Cures For Gum Infection

Gum infection goes hand in hand with the gum diseases, also referred to as Periodontitis’. The common symptoms of gum infection are swelling, bleeding in the gums, pain, loose teeth and bad odour in the mouth. The most common reason behind the infection are  poor mouth hygiene, persistent gum injury from brushing and cleaning, plaque, bad eating habits, tobacco, smoking and deficiency of vitamins in the body.It is very important to contain and cure the infection as it begins otherwise it can eat away the teeth and lead to cavities and bad tooth decay. You my have to get a complete scaling of teeth done at a dentist’s  who may also prescribe some antibiotics for the infection. However, you can do your own bit at home in a natural way which will not interfere with the medication, if you are taking any.

Natural Cures For Gum Infection

Yellow Remedy – Mustard & Turmeric

  Both of these ingredients are not going to leave a good taste in your mouth, but are extremely effective in fighting the infections in the mouth. Warm a little mustard oil and add half a teaspoon of turmeric in it. Apply it on your gums and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Wash off with normal water only.Do not use mouthwash or brush your teeth after using this paste. Best time to apply it is after you are done with your oral routine. Better still if you can apply it in the night. This solution will fight the bacterial infection and provide a lot of relief to the swelling and pain in the gums.

Stick To Neem

  Neem is a known anti-microbial substance. It works like a magic on the infections. The neem paste or chewing on neem leaves is just not possible as they are bitter beyond tolerance so the best way is to chew the neem bark or stick. It is an ancient remedy for gum problems. In fact people used the neem stick instead of brush and toothpaste in the olden days to keep their gums healthy and the mouth odour away.

Water Them

  Have you ever wondered why you have bad breath after a good night of sleep? The reason is that the mouth produces very less saliva in the mouth while you sleep. The saliva flushes the mouth regularly and frequently keeping the mouth fresh and free of harmful bacteria.That is why hydration of mouth is very important. Keep taking water or fluids preferably without any artificial sugar additives to keep up the water level in the mouth.

Sprinkle Some Salt

  Salt mouthwash is one of the commonly used and recommended remedy for gums. In a glass of warm water add a spoon of salt. Wish around your mouth and spit out. Do this 3-4 times in a day. The warmth of the water reduces swelling and soothes the pain whereas salt flushes out the infection out of the gums and abscesses. This will also relieve you from the problem of bad breath.

Reach Out For Cranberry & Mint Juice

  Cranberry is very rich in Vitamin C which is important in maintaining healthy gums. Its better if you prepare this juice at home. Do not add any sugar to it. Crush some cranberries and bunch of mint leaves together. The mint will alleviate bad breath and cranberry will help fight the infection.These ingredients also increase the efficacy of other medicines that you might be taking. These are not only cures but also preventive steps to avoid gum diseases and infections. Follow them and keep your mouth healthy and feeling fresh all day long!
