Our hands are extremely important because we are dependant on them for every single day to day task. Equally important is to take care and pamper them. However, most of the people forget hand care beyond a simple routine of clipping them. Ladies are a notch better with hand care compared to men as they follow a manicure routine but, still we find many of them suffering from the problem of yellow nails.
It is a very common and harmless issue which can be alleviated by using natural ways and means. The main causes of yellow tinge on nails is poor hygiene, continuous cover of nail polish which does not let the nail get any oxygen, fungal infection and vitamin and calcium deficiency.
In this write up we will discuss simple off the shelf natural measures that you can use to get bright and healthy nails that add to the beauty of your hands.
We all know that baking soda is a great cleanser. Many a times the yellow tinge on nails is caused by dust, grime and resultant fungal attack on them. The aeration caused by baking soda cleans and loosens this dirt and makes it difficult for the fungus to survive on the nails.
Take a bowl of warm water and add two spoons of baking soda. As soon as it begins to foam, soak your finger tips in it. You will notice that the upper dead layer on the nails is cleared to give way to shine on the nail. By following this cure regularly, you will find nails returning to their original colour.
This cure is again aimed at destroying the fungus and moisturising the nails to keep them healthy. Tea tree oil is a very strong anti-fungal agent. It is advisable to use it by diluting with some other oil like mustard, lavender or coconut oil. Lavender or coconut oil dilution will also clear the strong odour of tea tree oil.
Apply this oil at least twice in a day especially after washing hands. Do remember to dry the hands before applying this oil as the moisture trapped under the layer of oil can worsen the situation.
Lemon is nature’s answer to chemical bleach used in beauty treatments. It has tissue brightening properties and regular applications can restore the original shine and colour of your nail. However, lemon is also known to dry out the skin and nails and therefore, it is recommended to be used with some sort of moisturising oil.
Coconut oil is said to be the best when it comes to mixing with lemon juice. Apply it on your nails and let it dry. After it has dried up rub some coconut oil on them to lock the moisture.
Vinegar is a very effective cleansing agent. It can deep cleanse and remove the layer of dull tissues which helps in maintaining healthy hands and nails. Apple cider vinegar is considered best for such home and natural cures. Add one part vinegar in two part water. Soak in this solution for about 10 minutes twice in a day. Moisturise thoroughly after the soak.
Vitamin E is an essential compound which is responsible for healthy skin, hair and nails. Almond oil is the ingredient which has one of the highest percentage of vitamin E.
It regenerates new tissues and replaces the old ones. This process keeps the nails looking fresh and healthy. Apply this oil on the nails to keep them healthy and good looking.
