5 Quick Home Remedies For Botulism

Share

Botulism or food poisoning is a very common occurrence with everyone. It could be caused by a bacterial infection or a viral one. Some of the common symptoms of botulism are vomiting, diarrhoea, loss in appetite, generalized weakness and stomach cramps. Food poisoning can be caused by infected or outside foods but you never really know whatever you are eating is infected with bacteria or not.

The best way to avoid food poisoning is to keep away from eating at unhygienic places or keep away from eating outside during the monsoon season because that’s when all the opportunistic bacteria are most active.

It is easy to treat the condition of food poisoning through home remedies or natural ways, but you should religiously follow the treatment for at least a week until all your symptoms come back to normal including your loss in diet because that comes at the end. Here are some home remedies for treating botulism:

Home Remedies For Botulism

Garlic

It is the number one treatment or the first line of treatment to treat any condition of the stomach. It is known to be antibacterial and a natural antibiotic. It is really effective and as soon as it goes down your system, it starts to kill the infecting bacteria.

Make a mixture using freshly squeezed garlic juice and add some drops of lime water and honey to it. Honey is to improve the taste of the mixture. Gulp down this mixture at least two times daily.

Hydration

If you are following the garlic treatment or even otherwise, it is important to keep yourself hydrated during a stomach infection. Drinking plenty of fluids will help the flushing out of bacteria and toxins easily from your body which is necessary because your body needs cleansing during an infection. If not water, you could also try some fresh fruit juices or some warm soup to help you feel better.

Vitamin C

It is really important to keep your immunity strong during an infection. When the body comes in contact with an infectious agent, its immune response is challenged so it is important to build up your immunity once again.

Citrus fruits like oranges or even simple room temperature lemonade will help you enhance your immunity so that you can fight the infection better. Make some lemonade and you can sip on it throughout the day. Add some sugar or honey in it so that it tastes better and improves the ugly taste in your mouth as well.

Apple Cider Vinegar

It is very effective in treating botulism because vinegar is useful in disinfecting the stomach and the digestive system. It kills all the infecting bacteria in your system and water will help to flush it out. Mix two spoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water and sip it slowly instead of gulping it down.

Peppermint Tea

It gives a soothing effect to the infected stomach. It will improve your taste as well. You could prepare some tea using tea bags available in local stores or using fresh mint extracts. Drink about 3 cups daily.
