5 Simple Herbal Remedies For Chafing

Chafing is basically skin problem which is caused due to continuous friction of skin to skin. Chafing can cause red sore patches in the affected area. These sores are very painful at times. The places or areas of the body where chafing generally affects are the inner area of the thighs, armpits, groins, and buttocks etc. Chafing is caused due to a variety of reasons like obesity, wearing tight clothing or wet clothing and excessive sweating.

Symptoms of chafing include burning sensation, rashes, excessive irritation and itching in the affected area. But this can be healed through various herbal remedies as given below.

Herbal Remedies For Chafing

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is known for its healing properties on the skin. Aloe vera gel should be applied on the affected area in a slow and circular movement.  The medicinal properties begin to work swiftly and the healing begins almost immediately.

It brings great relief from the itching and burning sensation. After applying Aloe Vera, leave it there for an hour and then wash it clean. Aloe Vera also helps remove the redness from the affected area.  Apply the Aloe Vera gel twice a day for quicker healing.

Basil leaves

Take 10-15 leaves of the holy basil and extract some juice from it. Take some coconut oil in a small bowl, and mix both together. Apply this mixture to the affected area in the night before you go to bed. Leave it over the affected area overnight. The properties of the coconut and basil will heal the chafing and also help in reducing the inflammation.

Turmeric

Turmeric is known for healing various skin problems. The properties of turmeric help in healing many other disease and infection too. Take 2 table spoon of turmeric powder and make a paste of it by adding a little water to it. Apply this smooth paste on the chafing affected area of the body.

Leave it there for 30 minutes and cover it with a cloth. Wash the area with clean water. The healing properties of the turmeric  help in both controlling the irritation as well as worsening of the condition.

Olive

Olive oil is known as the gold of oils especially for the treatment of skin problems.  Olive has been used as an effective herbal remedy to heal chafing. Before you apply olive oil to the skin, clean it with antiseptic and warm water. Apply the oil directly to the affected area, with the help of a cotton ball. Keep it there for an hour, and then wash it clean with some warm water. Repeat this procedure through the day for at least 3-4 times.

Garlic

Garlic is another herb which works effectively works in the condition of chafing. Take 8-10 cloves of garlic and blending it in a mixer make a smooth paste of it.

Now take a cotton ball and by dipping it in the garlic paste apply it gently and slowly to the affected area of the skin. The anti septic and anti bacterial properties of garlic will cleanse and heal it. Do this for at least 4 times a day.
