5 Simple Home Remedies For Concussion

A concussion is a sudden blow to the head that can be caused due to a traumatic injury to the brain. Mostly people who suffer from concussions do not display obvious signs of the brain being affected, like loss of consciousness but a concussion cannot be ignored because it might start to display signs at a later stage. The common causes of concussions can be falling off the bike, fall in the bathroom, getting into a fight or indulging in activities like boxing or football.

The symptoms of brain damage begin to show a little later and mostly they could be long lasting for hours or even several days because the injury was not looked into in the beginning. Some of the symptoms of concussions are blurred vision, loss of balance, unable to think clearly, unusual movements, head ache, slurred speech, dizziness, disturbances in sleeping patterns and altering moods. Here are some home remedies which will help you treat concussions:

Home Remedies For Concussion

Ice And Egg White

If you notice any swelling or an apparent bump on the head after the injury, you’re first line of treatment should be compression with the help of ice. While you are applying ice, you can mix two egg whites and apply it over the bump. The egg whites will help to get down the inflammation and reduce the swelling or bump to a certain extent. You should continue the application and let the egg white stay there for about 15 minutes and to get best results; you can perform this twice in the day.

Apply Pressure

If there is even a little bleeding, it is important that you apply pressure so that any type of swelling doesn’t occur. The swelling will usually mean that the brain is increasing in size because between the skull and brain, there are no muscles or ligaments that could’ve suffered an attack. So remember to apply pressure on the affected part immediately.

Mint

Mint tea or mint leaves help to provide relieve to the nausea associated with the concussion. You can prepare mint tea using some tea leaves in a pot of boiling. Strain the contents and drink it sip by sip after it gets a little cool. For better results, you can consume mint leaves directly after having the tea. Mint leaves assist the working and help you get better faster.

Mustard And Salt

Both these ingredients will help to cure the dizziness associated with the concussion. These ingredients help to promote a healthy circulation of blood after a concussion. Mix equal amounts of mustard, salt, vinegar and pepper. Gulp this mixture down with a glass of cold water. It might taste awful but it is quite effective.

Cinnamon

It helps to relieve the headache associated with the concussion. Mix about half a spoon of ground cinnamon powder to a pot of boiling water and steep for about 10 minutes. Let this mixture cool down and then strain the contents. Sip this mixture throughout the day and store it in an air tight bottle so you can get access to it whenever you want.
