6 Simple Home Remedies For Spring Ailments

Spring time brings many ailments along with it and most are caused due to the change in the weather. Ailments caused by such change in weather during spring can be termed as spring ailments. The most common ailments are allergy, hay fever, gastroenteritis etc.  The causes for this could be lower immunity of the system.

Allergy to dust, pollen or mould can be another cause for spring ailments. The affected person suffers from cough, sneezes, congestions, headaches, itchiness in the nose and throat and watery eyes. This can be treated at home with various remedies which are easily available. Here are some home remedies for spring ailments:

Steaming

Take hot water and put it in a deep vessel. Put a couple of eucalyptus oil drops in the hot water. Now covering your head with a towel, inhale the vapour coming out of the vessel.

This will give you relief from nasal congestion. It also helps in clearing the itchiness in the nose and throat. However, remember not to consume the eucalyptus oil.

Honey

Honey has properties that help to build the immunity of the body. If taken regularly, honey helps to heal most of the symptoms of spring ailments such as sneezing, coughing, itchiness of the throat etc. Two tea spoons of honey taken every morning for a long time will help you keep all the above symptoms at bay and also reduce the occurrence of fever.

Peppermint

Take some peppermint leaves and put it in water. Boil it to prepare tea, and after this is done, strain it. While the tea is still hot, inhale the vapour coming out of it.

Then drink this tea, as it will greatly help in the alleviation of congestion which arises due to hay fever. Drink this tea three times a day. You should also add the peppermint leaves to hot water and do the inhalation too.

Ginger

Ginger consumed in any form will help in relieving the symptoms of spring ailments such as sneezing, coughing, sore throat and headaches. Take some ginger and boil it in water for around ten minutes, then strain it and add a few drops of lime to it. Drink this mixture three times a day.

The other preparation is to boil some water, add grated ginger to it and let it be on heat for a few minutes. Then strain it and let it cool down. Store it and have a little of this mixture throughout the day. It will help rebuild and strengthen you immune system again.

Cumin Seeds

Cumin seeds are a good healer for seasonal ailments and allergies. Take four tea spoons of cumin seeds and grind them well.

Take a glass of water and add half a tea spoon of the cumin powder to this water stir it well and drink it.  Continue having this healing drink at least three times a day. It will help heal most of the symptoms of spring ailments.

Rice

Rice is a staple diet in India and most of the households cook it at least once a day. The water of the rice that accumulates while it is cooking should not be thrown out. Strain this water and drink it while it is warm. It is a therapeutic home remedy for all spring ailments.
