Molluscum contagiosum is not very harmful but it is a viral infection that can be found on the skin in the form of white lumps that are very similar to shiny pearl. The white lumps are circular with a small central pit that produces a fluid when it is squeezed. The white lumps appear as little papules in clusters and are found in various areas around the entire body but they are mostly found around the face, genital area and the thighs. Children are found to be commonly affected by this infection in comparison to the adults because the skin immunity of children is not very powerful. There are some herbal remedies for molluscum contagiosum that can be used in order to get instant relief from this infection. They have been discussed below:
Molluscum contagiosum can be treated very well with the use of tea tree oil which contains antiseptic and antibacterial qualities that are found to be of great help in the treatment of molluscum. Lesions and their growth can be reduced to a greater level by the use of tea tree oil which is also considered to possess powerful astringent. This oil can either be used directly on the area that has been infected or else with water used for a bath.
Thuja occidentalis is one of the best herbal remedies for molluscum contagiosum because of the skin nourishing qualities that it contains. Apart from treating molluscum contagiosum, Thuja can also be used in the treatment of various other infections of the skin such as warts and eruptions caused due to several viruses.
Garlic has always worked as the best herb for infections of all kinds. Garlic paste can be applied to the area that has been infected along with a bandage that would help in covering the area. The bandage needs to be removed before bath and then it is important to wash off the paste very carefully. Garlic capsules can also be taken to eradicate such skin infections.
Lemon myrtle is widely known as Australian lemon myrtle which is considered as one of the most advantageous herbal remedies for molluscum contagiosum because its essential oil treats molluscum very fast and at the same time it is said to have low toxicity which is good for the body. An extract of this plant can help in eradicating the infection from the body and getting it healed in an appropriate manner.
Turmeric is also said to work in the treatment of molluscum contagiosum because it possesses curcumin which is considered to be a very active ingredient that has anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral qualities. Thus, it helps in providing a boost to the immune system and at the same time it also helps in speeding up the process of the demise of the virus that causes molluscum contagiosum. Turmeric can be taken raw because of the anti-inflammatory qualities that it possesses and it can also be applied on the skin in the form of a poultice.
