4 Best Home Remedies For Constipation

Share

Irregular or incomplete bowel movements cause constipation. Persons prone to constipation may be at risk of toxins finding their way into their bloodstream. When toxins enter the bloodstream, they are carried to every part of the body.

Toxins in the body reduce the body’s ability to fight disease in the longer term. Here are some of the best home remedies for constipation:

Home Remedies For Constipation

Castor Bean Oil

Though many squeal at its bad taste, it is a very effective remedy for constipation. This laxative is fast-acting and readily available at medical stores. A spoonful or two or dosage as directed on the bottle works quite quickly. Castor oil stimulates peristalsis in the intestines and works by discouraging fluid absorption.

It is a powerful remedy that should not be used long term because it can prevent the absorption of essential nutrients. It can also cause nutritional imbalances as well as kidney problems. It should only be used in serious constipation problems.

Psyllium Seed Fiber

This fiber has no nutritional value but it is an effective and popular bulk fiber laxative. You need to mix 2 teaspoons of psyllium husk seed in half a cup of hot milk and drink instantly. Psyllium fiber works because it helps in absorbing water and adding bulk to faeces while encouraging it to pass through the intestine and out the rectum. You need to take it with lots of water.

You can find psyllium fiber in most medical stores. You should take it only as directed as it is not digestible and puffs up in water, so taking too much of it can lead to serious complications. This remedy is best avoided by those on prescription and other medications.

Fruits

Guavas and bananas are rich in fiber content and as such are helpful and nourishing remedies. Guava when eaten with its seeds offers ample roughage to the diet and helps in the normal evacuation of the bowels.

One or two guavas eaten each day or a fruit salad made up of guavas and bananas will really add a lot of fiber. Fiber is great for maintaining large intestinal health and also to alleviate chronic constipation.

Water Treatment

Water is the simplest and most effective of treatments. Cold or normal temperature water taken as soon as you wake up really helps metabolic and digestive activity at the start of the day. In case of constipation the water should be drunk each morning on an empty stomach. The water can be tepid mixed with 1 teaspoon of olive oil or with just a little bit of epsom salt. Another simple task is just walking around for a few minutes soon after waking up and having that drink of water.

Constipation is a common digestive problem that affects people of all age groups, right from children to the elderly. A regular bowel movement is hard to define as it can vary in its frequency for different people. Constipation has occurred only when there is a disruption in a person’s normal bowel movement. These remedies will ensure a healthy lifestyle and a happy start to the day.
