Easy Home Remedies For Removing Tan

Share

A seaside holiday can be really fun but spending too much time on the beach leaves its mark on your skin in the form of tan. A golden tanned look can be glorious after a return from a holiday but it is not appreciated for long. Added to this there are some of us who dislike a tan and love our natural skin color best.

Tan is inevitable after a seaside or a cruise holiday and applying loads of sun screen and fairness cream does not help much. How does then one get rid of tan? Are there any remedies that can be made at home? Believe it or not there are many remedies at home to treat a tan. Let us take a look at few of them.

Effective Home Remedies For Removing Tan

Juicy Mixture

This is a mixture of three types of juices. Firstly, rose water, secondly lemon juice, and thirdly cucumber juice. Dip a cotton ball in the mixture and gently apply it to the affected areas of the skin. Rose water and cucumber juice act as coolants and the citric acid in lemon helps remove the tan.

Potato

Potato pulp is my grandmother’s favourite remedy to treat a tan. Peel and blend two or three potatoes in a blender. Add lemon juice to the blend if you so wish for better results.

Apply the blended pulp on to the affected areas of the skin and allow it to dry out for about an hour and wash the blend away with cold water.

Yogurt And Turmeric

This remedy needs to be used on a daily basis in summer or on tanned skin until the tan comes off. Make a mixture of cold yogurt (curd) and a pinch of turmeric (haldi) and apply it every day for about half an hour before you bathe. Applying this mixture every day will ensure that the tan will come off in a harmless way and it will also protect your skin from further tanning.

Tomato

This is one of the easiest remedies and does not involve making a mixture of any kind. All you need to do is cut a tomato into two halves and rub the inside parts on the affected parts of the skin. This remedy not only helps in reducing tan but also moisturises the skin and gives it a radiant glow.

Coconut Water

Coconut water has many uses. It is a great skin softening agent. Apply fresh coconut water on the tanned areas of the skin and leave it out to dry. Coconut water not only reduces tan but also makes the skin soft.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has many qualities that benefit the skin. You will find aloe vera gel when you cut an aloe vera leaf at the centre. Apply this gel daily for a week before going to bed at night. Bathing in the morning washes away the gel and tan along with the gel. You will see the tan mostly gone by the end of a week.

Your skin will not have to suffer from tan and sun burn if you follow the above given remedies. Along with the remedies it is important to use a good sun screen lotion while going out in the sun and drinking a lot of water. Drinking water keeps the skin hydrated from the inside thus keeping the skin moist.

Do not be afraid of the sun and tan when you have such easy remedies at hand. Have a nice holiday!
