9 Effective Home Remedies For Cough

Cold and cough are quite recurring symptoms for every body, making you feel uneasy.  Some times, even bottles of cold syrups may not work well.  Do not worry, because, from now onwards you can use these following simple home remedies for cough and cold.

Home Remedies For Cough

Pepper Powder And Hot Milk

Add a pinch of pepper powder to hot milk and drink it on an empty stomach. You can also add small quantity of jaggery instead of sugar to avoid spicy taste of pepper powder.  Follow this method for 4 to5 days and you will be relieved of cough.  However, do not take heavy doses of pepper in milk, because it causes heat in your body and you may get leg pains.

Avoid Eating Refrigerated Foods

Having a bite of ice creams or chocolates or soft drinks is not good for the infected throat.  There fore, you must ensure that, you will not eat foods which require cool temperatures for their storage.

Take Necessary Precautions When Climate Changes

Seasonal variations and there by temperature swings, are the prime reasons for getting cough.  Hence, you should be extra cautious in protecting yourself from the unforeseen weather, by covering your foot, ears, head and hands to keep yourself warm.

Eat Only Hot And Fresh Foods

It is never advisable to eat stored foods, when you have cough symptoms.  This is because, you will not feel like eating when you have cough.  Hence, to supplement better taste for your tongue, hot and fresh food should be taken.

Turmeric And Hot Milk

This is yet another combination of hot milk, which is effective in overcoming cough symptoms.  The basic anti bacterial characteristic of turmeric, gives immediate and permanent relief for throat infection and cough.

Juice Of Ginger And Pepper

If you have severe symptoms of cough with phlegm in the throat, take ginger and pepper juice.  To prepare this, peal the upper layer of ginger and cut it in to small pieces and grind it with 1 tea spoon of pepper and 1 table spoon of water. Add 1 tea spoon of honey to this.  Take this twice daily and please do not take it on an empty stomach.  Else, you may get nausea symptoms.

Gargle With Hot Salt Water

This is the most followed way of treating throat infection and relieving cough.  Take 300 ml of hot water and add 2 tea spoons of salt to it.  Gargle with this water by swallowing inside and repeat the procedure.  This practice should be done immediately after you brush your teeth in the morning, to witness improvement.

Avoid Eating Products Of  Milk

By products of milk such as curd, ghee, butter and cheese cause irritating sense to your throat, when you have cough.  Therefore, you should not eat them.

Steam Bath

Add a few pinches of vaporizing balm or eucalyptus oil to hot water in a bucket and take bath with it.  Remember that, you pour more water on your face, so that, you inhale the relieving flavor of vaporizer.
