Angular cheilitis is a condition in which the corners of the lip become irritated and inflamed. The corners of the mouth become sore and cause great discomfort. This condition is not contagious and does not spread to other parts of the body. However, if only one corner of the mouth is affected then the other corner can also become affected fairly easily. The cracks at the corners of the mouth cause pain and burning and eventually become dry and chapped and turn into red lesions.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a common and an inexpensive remedy for innumerable diseases and ailments. It also eliminates the use of harmful chemicals and further complications and undesirable long term effects. Slit an aloe vera leaf in the centre and rub the gel side on the corners of the mouth. Rub for five minutes till all the sap has been used. Use this frequently during the day. The healing properties of aloe vera will destroy any vestige of bacteria and fungus and will heal the skin quickly.

Grate one cucumber and extract its juice. Refrigerate the juice till it is quite chilled. Smear the juice on the cracks and leave it to dry. Apply frequently five to six times daily. Cucumber’s healing properties will soothe the inflamed and irritated skin and will keep it well moisturized throughout the day. The pain and burning also will abate quickly.

Drink plenty of freshly squeezed fruit juices three times daily. They will provide the body with valuable minerals and vitamins and will also keep the body well hydrated. One of the most obvious reasons for dry lips is insufficient water and liquids which results in dehydration. Also drink seven to eight glasses of water daily to keep your skin soft and lubricated.
