5 Home Remedies For Polyps

Share

Polyps are abnormal growths of tissue which form masses and arise from the mucous membranes. They mostly occur in the colon, stomach, sinuses, nose, uterus and the urinary bladder. They may also occur in other parts of the body where there is mucous membrane like the cervix, small intestine and vocal folds.

Nasal polyps are usually caused by congestion due to allergies and colon polyps can occur due to age, high fat and low fiber diet, excessive weight and chain smoking. Sometimes genetic factors too can cause polyps and though they are harmless initially, they can become cancerous over time. Some polyps cause no symptoms and one is not even aware of their existence but often there is rectal bleeding after a bowel movement, blood in the stool, diarrhea and constipation. The colon polyps can constrict the bowel and result in abdominal cramps, nausea, severe constipation and vomiting. Nasal and sinus polyps obstruct normal breathing and one has to breathe through the mouth for continuous supply of air.
