5 Herbal Remedies For Amenorrhea

When a female has no periods till the age of 16 or is suffering from irregular periods (not pregnancy) it is a case of Amenorrhea. First situation is considered as ‘primary Amenorrhea’ and the second one is ‘secondary Amenorrhea’. Excessive stress, rapid gain or loss in weight, irregular diet and lifestyle, and hormonal imbalance, can be major reasons for absence of periods.

Herbs To Treat Amenorrhea

Ginger Root

Ginger is one of the most common ingredients of Indian kitchen and contains amazing health benefits. Ginger is also a blood thinner and therefore its usage improves blood flow which in turn helps to bring on menstruation and treats bleeding disorder.

Ginger tea added with honey and lemon will not only treat Amenorrhea problem but would also relax your uterus and give relief from abdominal pain.

Angelica Root

Angelica root is a very famous Chinese herb and is used to treat a number of health problems. Angelica compounds act as calcium channel blockers which treat hormonal imbalance and bring back delayed periods. Its roots, stems, fruits and even leaves are used for the treatment of Amenorrhea.

You can boil any of its parts, especially roots, with water and sip it as a herbal tea 2-3 times a day. Angelica roots have a sweet and pungent taste which will relax your uterus and give relief from discomfort caused due to delayed periods.

Blue Cohosh Root

Blue cohosh is also a Chinese herb and used since ancient times to treat Amenorrhea. It is also used to induce labor in natural child birth. Its roots are bitter in taste but very effective in treatment of menstruation disorders.

You can make tea of Blue cohosh roots and add honey and lemon to neutralize its bitterness. You can also get its tincture or capsules at herbal section of medical shops.

False Unicorn Root

These roots contain steroidal saponins which are a type of estrogens. Usage of these roots treats hormonal imbalance in body and brings absent menstruation. You can simply boil its roots with water and sip 2-3 times a day (add honey and lemon for taste). There are also tinctures and capsules available in market in herbal section of medical shops.

Stinging Nettle Root

Stinging nettle roots are rich source of protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, vitamins A,C, D, and B complex. Its amazing properties are ideal remedy for female associated health problems and act an all-round health tonic. You can prepare herbal tea of these roots and sip 2-3 times a day.

Its usage will relax and tone your uterus and give relief from discomfort caused due to Amenorrhea. You can also get its extract in the form of tincture or capsules at herbal medical outlets. Please note that any of the above herbal treatments should not be taken in case you are expecting pregnancy as this can lead to miscarriage.
