High Blood Pressure Natural Treatments

Share

There are many different natural treatments for high blood pressure. While your health care provider will put you on medication to help lower your blood pressure, there are natural treatments you can follow as well.

Following natural treatments long term can eventually lead to the possibility of your health care provider discontinuing the use of your medication. You should never stop your medication without consulting with your health care provider first.

Change in Diet and Eating Habits

Some of us developed high blood pressure as a result of poor eating choices and becoming overweight or obese. Learning how to change our bad eating habits to good ones can take time and relapses may occur. You should not get discouraged if you have a relapse.

Many of the changes include lowering or eliminating all added sodium from our foods, eating foods that are low in Trans fats and saturated fats. We may also have to learn to give up sugary snacks and soft drinks and replace those with fresh fruits, vegetables, water and teas.

Further we have to go from eating one or two large meals each day to eating smaller portions broken up into six to eight smaller meals and snacks. The change in diet can be a shock to our systems so have patience as it takes time to undo the damage we have done to our bodies and lower our high blood pressure.
