Bedwetting is a common problem that is seen in small children and infants.
Quite unknowingly, the child wets the bed at night while in sleep as the bladder is very small and cannot hold the urine for long. By the time a child reaches 3-4 years of age, this problem resolves on its own as the bladder muscles and control improves. But, in some children the problem of bedwetting may continue even longer and causes much anxiety to the parents as well as to the child.

Small children may wet the bed quite often at night and it disturbs the sleep of both the child and the parents. This can also cause a lot of embarrassment to both and creates a lot of tension. It is best to avoid taking any medications or treatments for this condition as the children can suffer from side effects. Given here are some simple home remedies that can be used effectively to prevent the problem of bedwetting among children.

Indian Gooseberry

Indian gooseberry is an effective home remedy for bedwetting that has been used since ages to treat this problem in children. Deseed an Indian gooseberry and mix the pulp with a little pepper powder and a tablespoon of honey.

You can also add just a little amount of turmeric powder to this mixture. Let your child have this mixture at bedtime in order to prevent bedwetting at night.

Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice is also very useful as a home remedy for bedwetting as it is beneficial for the kidneys, urinary tract and the bladder. Having cranberry juice regularly can strengthen the bladder muscles and reduce incidences of bedwetting. Extract a glass of fresh cranberry juice and give it to your child an hour before bedtime.

Cinnamon

One of the best home remedies that you can use to prevent your child from bedwetting is to use cinnamon. The child should chew on a cinnamon stick for a few minutes every day.This will help prevent bedwetting at night. If the child refuses to do so, another way is to mix cinnamon powder with sugar and sprinkle on a toast. You can also mix cinnamon powder in a tablespoon of honey and let the child have it.

Walnuts And Raisins

This is an effective home remedy for bedwetting that works wonders and your child will easily agree to it as well. Walnuts and raisins are tasty and nutritious snacks that can be given to your child just before bedtime.Let the child have walnuts and raisins every night for a few weeks and there is sure to be an improvement in the child’s bedwetting problem at night.

Fennel Seeds

Fennel seeds are also very useful as a home remedy for bedwetting. Add a teaspoon of fennel seeds to a glass of water and mix in 4 tablespoons of sugar while boiling this mixture. Heat the mixture till it becomes a thick syrup.Cool and store in a glass jar or bottle. Mix two tablespoons of this mixture in a glass of warm milk and let the child have it daily for a few weeks. You will find a considerable improvement within a few weeks of starting this home remedy.
