The rash causes intense itching which gives a sensation of pricking thorns hence it is called prickly heat. The body eliminates toxins and other impurities from the body through sweat. During the hot weather, the sweat glands which are located in the deeper layer of the skin produce excessive sweat. But if the sweat ducts become clogged, the sweat is unable to reach the surface of the skin.
It becomes trapped beneath the skin’s surface and the impurities and toxins present in it, inflame the skin causing a rash. Heavy creams, makeup, lotions and dirt and grime can block the ducts. Tight clothing also makes it difficult for the air to circulate and prevents evaporation. The rash generally appears in the creases of the groin, neck and armpit.
Prickly heat causes severe itching that is simply maddening. On top of the itching the sensation of pricking thorns makes one want to tear away the skin. Aloe vera has amazing soothing and cooling powers.
Take a fresh aloe vera leaf and cut away its prickly edges. Slit the leaf in the middle and rub the gel side on the rash three or four times daily. The anti-inflammatory and healing properties of aloe vera will subdue the itching and will heal the rash quickly.
To get instant relief from the terrible itching take a basin of cold water and add one teaspoon of baking soda to it. Dip a soft cotton towel into the solution and squeeze out the excess water. Apply the cold compress all over the rash for fifteen minutes. Baking soda will provide instant relief in the itching and burning. Use this remedy three or four times daily to heal the rash rapidly.
Neem will not alleviate the itching but will also heal the rash and eliminate the bacteria present in the infectious blisters.
Grind some neem leaves with a little water to form a paste. Smear the paste all over the rash and keep it for half an hour after which wash it away with cold water. Apply twice daily and your rash will be healed very quickly.
Sandalwood has superb healing and soothing properties which cool the inflamed and irritated skin and provide relief in the itching. Rub a piece of sandalwood on a flat stone with some water until you get a thick paste. Apply the paste on the rash twice daily.
Take a piece of water melon and rub it all over the rash for ten to fifteen minutes. Let the juice dry then wash it off with cold water. Do this, three times daily to keep your skin cool and free from itching at all times.
