You know your body more than anyone else, so you are the one that needs to get your asthma management down. However, since asthma is a medical condition, you should do this with the help of your physician.

The first thing that you should do for asthma management is figure out what your triggers are. Once you know what causes your asthma symptoms you can avoid it at all costs. If you are a smoker, it could be the tobacco smoke that is causing the symptoms. Suffer from allergies? That could be the cause. Or it could just be that you have chronic asthma and your airways are naturally inflamed. No matter what the cause, you need to know what it is that triggers your asthma attacks. This way you can do what is needed to stop the symptoms before they start. If you are having difficulty narrowing the causes down, you may want to have an asthma test and an allergy test performed.  The asthma test will determine if you have chronic asthma and the allergy test will tell you which harmful allergens could be causing your asthma.

The next step in asthma management is deciding which asthma treatments will be beneficial to you. It may only be one type of treatment, or you may need to use a few. Some of the treatments available are inhaled corticosteriods, short-acting beta agonists, long-acting beta agonists and breathing treatments, such as a nebulizer. You may also benefit from taking antihistamines and nasal sprays. Or, if your asthma is caused by severe allergies, one thing you could do to help your asthma management is  get allergy shots.

Finally, taking care of your health is a big part of asthma management. If you are not in good health, your asthma will attack. Exercising, eating right and staying away from harmful substances is the best way to keep a healthy lifestyle. Most importantly, if you notice any asthma symptoms forming, get treatment immediately.
