Share

Basically, human skin is grouped into 3 types, namely dry, oily and normal skin. Some people may also possess sensitive skin or combination skin. People, who possess normal skin, may be considered to be fortunate as they may not need any extra skin care apart from the daily skin care routine.

People with dry skin are not so fortunate and necessarily need some extra skin care for keeping their skin in normal health. If you are the owner of dry skin, then you need not worry. Nature has provided solutions and remedies for almost every problem! And hence you can expect that there are a number of ways that can be used to prevent and treat dry skin.

Given below are some useful tips on how to prevent and treat dry skin. If you follow these tips religiously and on a regular basis, then you can expect significant improvement in the condition of your skin. This way you too can possess beautiful and radiant skin!

One of the most common tips to prevent and treat dry skin is to add essential oils into your bathing water. You can use a wide range of oils such as jojoba oil, almond oil, hazelnut oil or olive oil. But before adding any of these oils, you must take care that you have already spent about 5 minutes in your bath water. This is important because by doing so your skin becomes moist by absorbing water. And after this, oil coating on your skin helps in locking the water on the surface of your skin.

The next important tip to prevent and treat dry skin is to augment EFAs in your daily diet. For this you need to increase the intake of the food sources of Omega-3 fatty acids like flax seeds and cold water fish such as herring, salmon, etc. You can also take a spoon full of flaxseed oil to prevent skin dryness!

Avoid all those food stuffs that make your skin dry. These foods include alcohol, smoking and caffeine. Also, increase the quantity of water intake so as to keep yourself hydrated from within.

Cleansers like harsh abrasives and deodorant soaps should be avoided and only mild cleansers need to be used. Grain-based and soap-free cleansers are good options.

For treating dry skin, non-petroleum jelly products can be used. Exfoliation and moisturizing of skin need to be done on a regular basis.
