The root of the Ashwaganda or Withania somnifera has many stress busting properties. Ashwaganda is known to relax brain waves and reduce stress. It is also known to help fight fatigue caused by over work and sexual incapacity.

Passion Flower

Another great herbal remedy for stress is the passionflower. Scientifically known as Passiflora incarnata, passionflower has long been used by tribals to fight insomia. Passion flower is also helpful in inducing better job performance as it does not make one drowsy, but relaxes them. The side effects of passion flower may include nausea and rapid heartbeat. The extract of passion flower can be compared to that of benzodiazepine drugs.

Kava

Piper methysticum more commonly known as Kava, is found extensively in Polynesia. Kava has been used extensively as a sedative and anesthetic but when used without supervision, Kava can cause severe damage to the liver. Some people who have used Kava extensively have had to undergo liver transplants.
