6 Natural Remedies For Receding Gums

Receding gums are most often the result of genetics. Though the condition is not very painful, it is the onset of more serious dental problems like gingivitis. Brushing twice a day, flossing and going for cleanings in dental clinics are the most effective cure for receding gums.

How To Cure For Receding Gums

Rose Vinegar

Place few clean rose petals in a jar. Pour red wine vinegar in the jar such that the liquid completely covers the rose petals. Let the petals steep in vinegar for a minimum of one week.

After a week strain the liquid in another jar. Pour a small quantity of the mouthwash you use into this jar while also adding lukewarm water to mix the two liquids properly. Rinse your mouth twice a day with the mixture.

Tea Tree Oil

Rub tea tree oil on your receding gums two times a day after brushing with a cotton ball or your fingertip. Tea tree oil has antiseptic properties, that work wonders in killing bacteria in gums and preventing regrowth. Moreover, tea tree oil is also beneficial in curing toothache and sensitivity of teeth to cold and heat.

Propolis Tincture Or Myrrh

Both these products are rich in minerals that cure gum problems. Take a glass of lukewarm water and add few drops of either tincture. Rinse mouth with this mixture twice a day after brushing. Avoid drinking or eating anything at least 20 minutes after rinsing. If the tinctures are not available, use sea salt in lukewarm water as a mouth rinse. It effectively cures receding gums and also makes gums stronger.

Rhus Glabra

This is a type of tree also known as sumac. Take a twig of this herbal tree and rub the juice that is extracted from the branch on the gums. The juice of rhus glabra has astringent properties that kill the bacteria causing receding gums. Use the twig of this tree only after removing the thin outer bark.

Essential Oils

Amongst essential edible oils, eucalyptus oil is the most effective in curing dental problems. The antimicrobial properties of the oil help in destructing bacteria that lead to settling of plaque on the gums. Do not rub raw oil on gums as this may lead to a burning sensation.

Add few drops of eucalyptus oil in a glass of water and use as a mouthwash or to rub on the gums. Another effective essential oil to cure receding gums is clove oil. Apply this oil directly with your fingers or a cotton ball on the gums and teeth.

Green Tea

Green tea has herbal properties that work wonders to give you healthy and strong gums. Drink the tea or mix green tea concoction in your standard mouthwash and rinse your mouth with the mixture frequently throughout the day. It will also help to tighten gums.
