Ear infections can affect anyone regardless of age. Infants and children are more likely to have more ear infections than adults. The use of various natural and herbal oils can help fight ear infections. St. John’s wort oil has both anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. You can apply several drops of the oil to a cotton ball and place into the ear. You should leave the cotton ball in for at least fifteen minutes. You should repeat this treatment three to four times a day for the best results.
Another oil that can be used is garlic oil. Garlic offers a multitude of medicinal properties and helps fight infections as well as reduce inflammation. You can use the same method as St. John’s wort oil and apply the garlic oil to a cotton ball, place it in the ear, and leave it in for at least fifteen minutes.
Mullein oil is another oil that can help treat ear infections. The treatment is the same as the other oils. Mullein oil helps to relieve inflammation and swelling. Since the infected ear tube is swollen this will help relieve the ear pain.
