Fortunately, you can easily treat swelling in any part of the body at home without spending a lot of money. Some of the effective ways through which you can reduce swelling includes application of turmeric, aloe vera, ice pack and intake of a lot of fluids.

Various Home Remedies For Swelling

Ice Pack Application

Applying ice pack to the swollen area can help relieve pain, inflammation and swelling. This is one of the best home remedies for both emergency as well as long term healing. To apply an ice pack on the affected area, first wrap the ice pack with a thick cloth or towel and then keep it over the swollen area for about 20 minutes. You can re-apply the ice pack after an hour.

Diet and Fluids

Swelling can occur due to many reasons including some diseases like gout. In this case, try to reduce the alcohol intake, meat, poultry and fish. Also, increase the consumption of water and other fluids and reduce sodium in your diet.

You can also eat a lot of pineapples as they contain high content of bromelain that helps to block the compounds, which leads to pooling of fluids and causes swelling in your body.

Apply Aloe Vera

Applying aloe vera can also reduce the swelling. Bradykininase, a compound found in aloe vera helps in treating the swelling. You can apply aloe vera gel to the affected area and leave it to dry for some time. You can re-apply the aloe gel again on an interval of an hour to get some relief from the swelling.

Traditional Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the best natural herbs that can reduce the swelling. You can use turmeric paste and apply on the affected area or eat turmeric capsules to get relief from swelling.

Apply the turmeric paste generously on the swollen area and wrap the area with some cloth and leave it to dry. If you are taking turmeric in the form of a capsule, take about 500 mg before your breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Consume Ginger

Ginger is also one of the most important home remedy for curing swelling. It has the natural ability that can relieve pain and swelling. You can mix ginger in your daily food or take two capsules of ginger before your meals. You can even consume ginger in the form of a liquid by just adding half a teaspoon of ginger powder to 8 ounces of warm water. It reduces the accumulation of blood in the swollen part of the body.

Stretching

Stretching can also greatly help in reducing the swollen part of the body. Try to slowly stretch your affected body part without exerting a lot of pressure to it. It helps the fluid to reduce, thereby curing the swelling.
