Pollen allergy is a serious condition that can lead to a number of problems such as headaches, hay fever as well as worsen the asthma attack. Pollens are categorized as the male reproductive cells of a plant.
The pollens of trees, weeds and grasses often worsen the condition of people who suffer from pollen allergies as opposed to the flowering plants. The flowering plants mostly depend upon the insects for carrying their heavy pollen granules from one plant to another whereas weeds produce pollen granules that are dry and light and are naturally meant to travel with wind for pollinating other plants.
A lot of people are allergic to these pollens and when these pollens reach the body, it is perceived as invaders, thus the body releases histamine that cause itchy eyes, throat and nose, sneezing, watery eyes, nasal congestion, cough and runny nose.
Sneezing is one of the first signs of pollen allergy. If the season of pollens has arrived and you find yourself sneezing most of the times, it may be mostly because you are allergic to pollens. Sneezing is the forceful outburst of air from the mouth and nose.
Pollen allergy also brings watery eyes, making it one of the most common signs of pollen allergy. It may also cause redness and eye pain along with watery eyes. Watery eyes may also cause splitting headaches and body pain.
Nasal congestion is one of the most important symptoms of pollen allergy. It is considered to be one of the earliest signs of pollen allergies. In this condition, you may have problems in breathing, which may cause headache and overall feeling of restlessness.
Runny nose is also a common symptom of pollen allergy. It is the discharge or fluid coming out from the nasal passages. It is linked with congestion and inflammation of the nasal passages’ inner lining.
If you notice watery substance coming out frequently during the spring or the allergy season, then it may be a symptom of pollen allergy and becomes important to consult a doctor to treat the problem.
