You should give rest to your throat and therefore should speak as less as possible. Gargling is one of the best home remedies to treat sore throats and gives instant relief. Take a glass of warm water and add one tea spoon of salt to it. Gargle with this water and spit out. Repeat this process 3-4 times in a day. This will heal your tonsils and also give you relief from throat pain.
Lemon and honey are very good ingredients to treat tonsillitis. Take a glass of warm water, add one teaspoon of honey with few drops of lemon juice. You can add sugar and salt for taste and drink it to treat your tonsillitis. This will soothe your pain and discomfort and also give you relief from swollen tonsils.
Turmeric is considered a very effective home remedy to treat any internal inflammation and acts miraculously on sore throats. You can add a pinch of turmeric to boiled milk and drink it at night for treating tonsillitis. For better results also add a pinch of pepper to it. Repeat this treatment for 3-4 days to get rid of sore throats completely.
You can also apply alum powder on the surface of tonsil area over the neck or simply gargle with warm water and alum. This treatment will give you relief from irritation and discomfort caused due to tonsillitis.
Chamomile has anti-inflammatory qualities and therefore works tremendously over throat inflammation. For making chamomile tea, add chamomile powder, lemon and honey to boiling water and soothe your throat with the sips of this relaxing tea.
You can also have hot vegetable soups of cucumber, beetroot, carrot, added with mint, pepper, tomato, ginger, and black salt to treat your sore throats. These soups not only effectively relief your swollen tonsils but also boost your immune system to fight against these inflammations.
You can also boil fenugreek seeds with water for 5 minutes and gargle with it to get rid of sore throat. Fenugreek stops throat inflammation to further spread and treat tonsillitis very effectively. You should gargle with this water for 3-4 times for the whole day for better results.
This is one of the most ancient ways to treat tonsillitis. You can prepare herbal tea (kadha) with your own kitchen ingredients. Add ginger, a pinch of pepper, 4-5 tulsi leaves, sugar to taste, a pinch of salt, to 2 cups of water. Boil at medium flame till water reduces half. Drink this tea 2-3 times a day to relax yourself from the fatigue caused due to tonsillitis.
