There are two types of fever blisters; canker sores and cold sores. Canker sores are lesions which appear inside the mouth. They appear inside the cheeks, on the tongue or under the tongue. These sores are not caused by pathogens and are not contagious. They can be caused by stress or some food allergies. Sometimes they can also occur due to a deficiency in vitamin C. Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1. This infection is very contagious and it usually affects the mouth, chin, nose and other facial areas.
The virus is transmitted by direct contact with a sore or lesion or by contact with the fluid that oozes out of the lesions. This infection can also be transmitted to the genital area through oral and genital sex. Fever blisters inflict great pain. The skin turns red and becomes inflamed and the blisters that erupt fill up with contagious fluid. The outbreaks can keep recurring because the virus, once it enters the body stays inside for keeps. To cure fever blisters, it is important to uproot the virus from the body.
Tea tree oil is a great remedy for fever blisters. It has powerful antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It is well able to uproot the virus and make short work of it. Take a cotton ball and dip it into some tea tree oil. Swab the blisters with it three or four times daily. Tea tree oil will also reduce the inflammation and will bring relief in the itching.
Everyone is aware of the powerful healing properties of neem. Its potent antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties destroy the virus at its root and prevent the infection from coming back. Boil some water with plenty of neem leaves for ten minutes.
Wash your face with this water three or four times daily. If the blisters are inside the mouth then rinse your mouth with it frequently. Also chew some new and tender neem leaves, every morning for three or four days. After sometime you will find that neem has cured you of the infection completely.
To cure any type of infection it is necessary to boost the immune system so that it can defend the body against the invasion of pathogens. Once your immune system attains proper functioning abilities then you will no longer be hounded by the dreaded virus. Amla is exceptionally rich in vitamin C which not only boosts immunity but also scavenges the pathogens and eliminates them from the body. Swallow one teaspoon of amla powder with lukewarm water every morning for at least six months.
Skin a fresh aloe vera leaf and rub the gel on the blisters every few hours. The gel will soothe the itching and burning and will provide immense relief in the pain.
Grate two big onions and squeeze the pulp to extract the juice. Keep some juice aside and drink the rest of it. Smear the blisters with the onion juice frequently to get relief from the itching and burning. Regular use will eradicate the virus and heal the blisters.
