What Are the Signs of Asthma?

Share

Asthma is a dangerous disease that can cause serious health problems. Asthma happens when the airways become inflamed and swollen. The airways narrow and make it difficult to breath. When this happens, a sudden attack is brought on that includes labored breath and shortness of breath.

An asthma attack can be a serious matter and stopping it from forming is crucial. The best ways to stop it is to know what the signs of asthma are. When a person is complaining of pain or tightness in chest and also tightness in the neck muscles, this could be a sign that an asthma attack is forming. Other common signs of asthma include rapid breathing or shortness of breath. When the airways are inflamed, it becomes more difficult to breathe. A person heading for an asthma attack may even look like they are hyperventilating. Panic and anxiety are also signs that an asthma attack is forming. Most people panic when they are having difficulty breathing. This is a severe problem, because the combination of an asthma and panic attack can cause even more problems to arise.

Extreme fatigue is another common sign that an asthma attack may be forming. Weakness and lack of energy is usually caused by not receiving enough oxygen. When the airways are narrowed due to asthma symptoms, you will not intake as much oxygen as you normally do. This could also cause other problems, such as anemia. When a person is experiencing severe allergy symptoms it could be a sign that they will soon have an asthma attack. These symptoms include congestion, itchy and watery eyes, difficulty breathing and stuffy nose. Take action immediately to prevent the allergy symptoms from turning into an asthma attack.

Signs of asthma can vary from person to person. Some people may experience tightness in the chest and difficulty breathing. Others may only have a heavy cough or wheezing. Knowing what signs of asthma are possible is the first step towards a symptom free life. Watch for each of these signs and if you notice them more frequently, speak with your doctor about possible treatment.
