What To Eat To Recover From Anorexia

Tragically, anorexia is a health condition that is affecting an ever increasing number of the population and little wonder, given that we live in a very shallow and  image-driven society where we are forever being bombarded by the media’s interpretation of physical perfection. People of all ages and walks of life, are now putting themselves and their health at risk by succumbing to anorexia.

If you are recovering from anorexia then take a moment and bask in a moment of pure, totally deserved glory because you are to be commended for your bravery in overcoming such a terrible disease. The following is intended as an overview of some of the different things that the recovering anorexia sufferer should eat, and be aware of.

Carefully monitor the amount of fibre in your diet

A person who is recovering from anorexia will actually need to significantly increase the amount of calories that they would normally consume, and in some cases, maybe required to ingest more calories than an average person. The reason that fibre should be carefully controlled is due to the fact that it will induce feelings of physical fullness which in turn, will sate and suppress the appetite of the anorexia sufferer which stunts their calorie intake overall.

Increase the amount of saturated fat

Whether the anorexia sufferer has sought to limit the calories by refusing to eat, or by means of purging their body of the food that they do eat, this means that they will need to increase the amount of saturated fat in the diet so as to provide the body with much needed warmth and insulation.

Increase zinc consumption

Many recovering anorexics report that one of the hardest things they find to accomplish is actually plucking up the motivation to actually eat something, as they have conditioned themselves to be wary of food. However, by ingesting more zinc, this means that the recovering anorexic will stimulate their appetite thereby ensuring that the all essential increased calorie intake is achieved more readily and with a minimum of hindrance.
