A tension headache is primary type of headache which is experienced mostly by women once in a lifetime. Tension type headaches can last from days to months or even years. Firstly lie down back on a chair or bed and dim the lights. Start massaging using the pads of your fingers round the neck, ears and forehead. press gently and move the skin back and forth.
Continue this technique until you have covered your entire head. Essential oils such as rosemary, peppermint, sandalwood, lavender or jasmine can be incorporated into massage. You can do this oil massage youself or ask some one else to massage for you.
Caffeine is a key to cure tension type headaches. According to researchers 60-65 per cent people who consumed a mug of coffee relived quick headache in a short period of time than those who ignored. Tension headaches are featured by wider blood vessels around the skull and caffeine constricts the blood vessels which lessens the head pain.
Drink lots of water to get rid of headache, it cools down the body. Dehydration is also one of the reasons that causes headache so go ahead and start drinking water to keep your body hydrated.
Water can aid as a treatment to headaches. If fatigue is the cause of dehydration then why go for painkillers instead of taking natural water.
Almonds are a good source of potassium, vitamin E and magnesium, a mineral that helps to increase muscle relaxation. It contains pain relieving chemicals that reduces your headache. Consume at least 8-10 almonds or make a fine paste out of it and massage gently on your forehead.
