Symptoms Of Trichomoniasis In Men And Women

Trichomoniasis also sometimes referred to as ‘trich’ is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases affecting both men as well as women. The microscopic parasite Trichomonas vaginalis causes this sexual disease.

The symptoms of the disease can be found more frequently in women than in men. Around 7.4 million people in the U.S. and over 180 million people worldwide get affected from this disease very year. Trichomonas vaginalis parasite  is transmitted in a person through vulva to vulva contact, during vaginal, by sharing sex toys, using damp towels, and during penis intercourse.

It generally takes an incubation period of around 3 to 28 days for the disease to get developed after the symptoms appear. Individuals between the age group of 16 to 35 years are more prone to getting infected with the sexual disease.

Various Symptoms To Detect Trichomoniasis

Although both women and men can get affected by this disease, more than 70 per cent of the infected people cannot detect any sign or symptom. Some infected people get the symptoms within 3 to 28 days after being infected with the disease, while sometimes people do not develop any symptoms even after being infected. If any of the mentioned symptoms develop in a person, it will be advisable to seek a gynecologist’s advice.

Symptoms In Women

Women are more prone to developing this sexual disease than men. They can get Trichomoniasis from both men as well as women sexual partners.  If this disease is left untreated, women are at greater risk of developing an HIV infection in a later stage. Mothers infected from the disease pass this to the new born babies.

Pregnant women infected with Trichomoniasis are more likely to give birth to their babies too early, or in some cases the babies are born with low birth weight. Some of the symptoms, which can be found in a woman suffering from this sexual disease are written below:

Itching In The Vaginal Area

The affected woman will feel itching, soreness as well as inflammation around the vagina. Along with this, she will also experience pale yellow green color thick vaginal discharge having an abnormal fishy odor.

More Vaginal Discharge Than Normal

The affected women experience a greater rate of discharge from their vagina in comparison to the women who don’t have this disease. So, don’t ignore such an issue if you ever face one.

Pain In The Abdomen And During Intercourse

The affected women also suffer a lot of pain in their abdomen and also at the time of urinating. Besides that, they experience a very painful intercourse with blood spots from time to time.

Symptoms In Men

Men get infected with this disease only from sexual contact with their infected female partners. Men generally do not exhibit symptoms of Trichomoniasis. Near about 40 per cent of the infected males develop very rare and mild symptoms.

If the disease is left untreated, men continue to infect their partners with the disease during sexual intercourse. Some of the symptoms which develop in an infected male  include feeling burning sensation and pain after passing urine, discharge from penis, irritation inside penis, and discomfort during sexual intercourse.
