Share

Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness in the stomach and is a precursor to vomiting. Vomiting occurs when the stomach throws up its contents through the mouth. Nausea and vomiting are symptoms of such condition as seasickness, motion sickness, emotional stress, overeating, indigestion, food poisoning, gallbladder diseases, intense pain, gastropareisis and intake of excessive alcohol. Heart attack, brain tumor and reaction to offensive smells and odors can also cause nausea and vomiting.

Nausea makes one sick and queasy and is very distressing. It can cause severe headaches, loss of appetite and a heavy feeling in the chest and stomach. It can also impair your ability to get on with your daily chores. Nausea can also be caused by upper respiratory infections and influenza. Often the nausea is relieved once you have vomited.

5 Natural Cures For Nausea

Ajwain

The timing of nausea often indicates the cause. If it occurs just after a meal then it can be due to gastritis or food poisoning. Roast one teaspoon of ajwain seeds on a griddle. When the seeds start popping, turn off the gas and remove the seeds from the griddle. Grind them coarsely with a rolling pin on a board.

Mix a good pinch of kala namak and with it and swallow the mixture with a glass of water. Ajwain will relieve your nausea instantly. It will also dispel the accumulated gases in the stomach and will destroy the infection causing microbes.

Asafetida

Asafetida has innumerable healing and curative powers. It is added to every dish not only to enhance its flavor but also to increase its digestibility. It takes care of all kinds of digestive problems and settles an upset stomach very quickly. Take a glass of warm water and dissolve a pinch of asafetida into it. Add half a teaspoon of rock salt and drink it.

Cold Compress

Take some chilled water in a basin and dip a soft cotton towel into it. Wring out the excess water and fold the towel lengthwise. Cover the whole breadth of your stomach with it. As soon as the towel loses its chillness dip again into the water and repeat the process for ten minutes. The cold compress will soon reduce the nausea and make you feel better. You can use the cold compress whenever you require it.

Ginger

Grate one big piece of ginger and mix the juice of one lime with it. Add some rock salt and store the mixture in a small jar. Eat a little bit of the ginger every few hours. Ginger will remove the queasiness and alleviate the heavy feeling. It will also aid digestion and get rid of any infection. Lemon Juice

Take one cup of water and squeeze the juice of one lemon into it. Stir in one teaspoon of sugar and half a teaspoon of baking soda. Add a dash of salt and drink it up quickly.
