5 Home Remedies For Ulcers

Ulcers occur when the mucosal lining in the stomach or the intestines gets corroded by the hydrochloric acid. This acid is normally present in the digestive juices of the stomach but if its level exceeds normal levels then it starts irritating the mucous membranes.

Ulcers

Another major cause for ulcers is infection from the Helicobacter pylori bacteria which are transmitted through contaminated food and water and from person to person. The infection weakens the stomach lining and allows the stomach acid to pervade the sensitive tissues.

Undue stress, smoking, a weak immune system, genetic factors and injury to the mucosal lining can also cause ulcers. The predominant symptoms are pain in the upper abdomen, heartburn, weight loss, loss of appetite and vomiting. The pain often occurs as a burning or gnawing feeling and can occur immediately after eating.
