When you feel the onset of a tension headache start this breathing exercise, Take three very deep breaths pulling in as much air as you can. Slowly let each breath out pushing all the air out. Remember to breathe in and out slowly. Continue this exercise until you have completed three rounds. Repeat as often as you want.

It would be great to go have a massage but you are at work and cannot leave. Here is a simple solution. Massage yourself to relief the tension headache. Gently using your fingertips, massage the neck area and upper shoulders. Massage the flat part of your shoulders from the top of the arm to the neck. A pressure point to massage is the muscle mass between the thumb and first finger.

This is one of the easiest natural headache treatment. Take a leisure bath. Soak in a hot tub of water. Add a few drops of lavender oil to the water. Essential oils will help relief the headache. Another way to relax is sit down, elevate your legs and put your head back.

Moving your body will help relief a tension headache. Stretch the muscles of the neck and upper back.  Gently turn your head from side to side slowly. Works best if you shut your eyes while moving your neck. Do this several times and you will begin to feel the tension go away. Shrug your shoulders slowly.

Take a stroll outside for about ten minutes. Breathe slowly and deep pushing all the air out of your lungs. If walking is not an option stand in one spot and march, lifting your legs one after the other.
