Occurrences of cardiovascular diseases are on the rise all over the world and the increased levels of stress in the lives of people are mainly responsible for this. Apart from that a generally unhealthy lifestyle, lack of physical exercise and poor dietary habits also increase the chances of CVD. Hence it is very important to maintain a healthy balance in our lives with sufficient exercise, rest and proper nutrition.
In fact many studies are being performed to establish the relation between nutrition and the prevention of cardio vascular disease. In fact it has been proved that supplementing with some vitamins may actually prevent this problem and help in improving cardio vascular health in general. Let us take a brief look at some of the vitamins for cardiovascular disease.
Various Vitamins For Cardiovascular Disease
Vitamin E
This vitamin is a powerful anti oxidant and recent studies have shown that it plays an important part in preventing the formation of arteriosclerotic plaque. This plaque is the excessive bad cholesterol that gets deposited in the arteries that supply blood to the heart.
As a result of this the heart does not get sufficient oxygen and nutrition and hence there are chances of a heart attack or other cardiovascular disease. Hence taking sufficient amounts of Vitamin E is necessary for the overall health of the heart and also in the prevention of cardio vascular disease.
Beta Carotene
This is another one of the vitamins for cardiovascular disease that is anti oxidant in nature and prevents the plaque from getting deposited in the arteries of the heart. The events that cause the accumulation of plaque in the arterial walls are inhibited by anti oxidants like beta carotene.
The best source of beta carotene are carrots, hence it is a good idea to include these in your daily diet. Hence you should consume food rich in these vitamins which include fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains.
Vitamin C
This vitamin as one of the vitamins for cardiovascular disease also plays an important role in the overall healthy being of the heart. It enhances the flow of blood to the heart by preventing the formation of plaque in the arteries like most anti oxidants. This vitamin is water soluble and hence there is usually no danger of overdosing on it, as the excess is removed along with the urine and other toxic wastes being eliminated from the body.
You can of course opt for vitamin C tablets, but eating foods rich in this vitamin will be the ideal way to consume it. Oranges and lemons are the richest sources of vitamin C and so is the Indian Gooseberry (amla). Hence try to consume a lot of orange and lemon juice and eat at least one Indian gooseberry every day. Other citrus fruits also have high content of vitamin C in them.
Vitamin B
The B vitamins are extremely popular as they help in controlling stress. In fact, the vitamin B3 has the capability to enhance the level of healthy cholesterols. In addition, vitamin B5 can protect you from any kind of heart disease.
