Tea

Green tea is an anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial in nature. Have a cup thrice in a day. The warmth of green tea will soothe the throat and it anti-bacterial qualities will control and kill the bacterial infestation in the mucous membrane on the laryngitis.

Chamomile tea is another anti-bacterial agent that reduces inflammation in the body. You can add half a tea spoon of crushed black pepper to the tea as well to enhance its effectiveness. It may feel the bite first as the tea goes down the throat, but in a few seconds the relief from inflammation and congestion will be evident.

Ginger

Ginger has been used against throat infection, cough and cold from ancient times. Extract ginger juice by crushing it with 3-4 teaspoons of water. Mix a spoon of honey and consume. You can also chew it raw however that will make you cry as the ginger is extremely pungent.

Adding a crushed piece of ginger to tea is a great way of deriving all its goodness. You can also add it your soups while boiling. It will not only provide a beautiful flavour to otherwise boring soup but also alleviate this condition.

Eucalyptus oil is known for unblocking and aiding the breathing process. Boil a pan of water and add a few drops of this oil. Inhale the rising vapours from this pan. The vapours will soothe the throat immensely. You can also apply a few drops on your throat directly.

The cooling effect will relieve the inflammation. Lozenges can also be prepared from eucalyptus at home so that you can pop one whenever required. These are also very helpful in relieving the throat.

Peppermint contains menthol which decongests the throat during cough and cold. You can either chew a few leaves or prepare tea by boiling them thoroughly. However, the most effective way is to extract the juices of peppermint by crushing it with some water.

Consume a spoonful with some honey. Repeat every three hours until you find the laryngitis symptoms easing out.

Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper is anti-inflammatory in nature. Add a spoon of this pepper in warm salt water. Gargle thrice a day for immediate relief.

Adding 2 spoons of apple cider vinegar to the cayenne pepper gargling solution will increase its potency against the inflammation caused. Cayenne pepper also kills the bacteria harbouring the larynx thereby controlling and curing this condition.
