Exercise To Prevent Health Problems

Health Problems

There are many health problems that can be prevented simply by following an exercise routine on a regular basis. Obesity can cause a series of health related problems, such as being overweight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes. All of these health problems are avoidable with proper diet and exercise. Most people dislike exercising because they are not motivated to do it, let alone attempt to stick to a routine.

Every single New Years numerous people make a resolution to exercise. By about mid-February many people have slipped back into their old habits and have given up on exercising. They make excuses as to why they do not have the time to exercise or will plan on getting back into a routine but do not set any specific goals for themselves. It is important to set attainable goals so that you can stick with your plan. Having unrealistic goals, like wanting to lose thirty pounds in two months, or having wash-board abs in a short period of time is not attainable. Rather goals should be more long term and realistic. Goals such as losing two to three pounds a week or being able to go from lifting five pound weights to ten pound weights in a month are easier to obtain.

Small Step

When developing an exercise routine, you should set an overall goal that you want to reach. Then you should set smaller goals that you can reach in a shorter period of time. Setting an overall goal to lose 30 pounds in 6 months and then breaking that goal down into smaller steps, like losing two pounds a week will help you stick with your routine.

Routine

Everyone at some point will backslide or skip exercising for a week or two. The important thing is to get back into your routine as soon as possible. Exercise not only helps to lose fat, but also helps to promote healthy muscles and tissues. It can help prevent the health related problems mentioned above. Also you will find that you have more energy and do not feel tired as often once you have established a regular routine.
