Different Home Remedies For Split Ends
Oil Massage
Depending on the severity, choose a thin or thick oil for the hair massage. Coconut oil is a natural conditioner that strengthens hair and helps reduce the occurrence of split ends through frequent use.
If you have a bad case of split ends, use olive oil instead. It contains vitamins A & E and is ideal for treating dry and damaged hair prone to split ends.
To start the oil massage, heat the oil till just warm and apply to your hair. Massage the ends well with your fingertips. Leave in for 1 hour and then shampoo and rinse.
Warm Water And Honey Mix
Honey contains vitamins that enrich the hair and has a natural, mild moisturizing effect when applied topically. Mix one tablespoon of honey with 4 cups of warm water.
Apply this evenly to the length of the hair. Cover with a shower cap and allow it to remain for 30 minutes. Rinse your hair with a mild shampoo and cover your hair with a towel to absorb the water.
Do not blow dry. If you must, dry only on low heat. While honey is a natural humectant, it should always be diluted before application, preferably with water.
Egg Hair Masque
It is said that the fatty acids in eggs has a moisturizing effect on hair and thus serves as an effective natural conditioner. Beat both parts of the egg (yolk & egg white) together. Add a tablespoon of water and beat once more till the mixture is slightly frothy.
If you have a bad case of split ends, you can mix in almond oil instead of water. Gently work in the mixture along the hair length, using a little at a time. After 30 minutes, shampoo your hair and rinse well so that the odor does not remain.

Fruit Hair Masques
Papaya has minerals and protein that are useful in treating skin and hair problems. Mix half of a small papaya with 1/2 cup of yogurt and blend till smooth.
Apply to your hair and leave in for 15 minutes. Wash off with a mild shampoo and towel or air dry your hair. You can alternatively use avocados which are also rich in protein and contain natural oils that strengthen the hair.
A ripe, mashed banana is also a good substitute for papaya as bananas contain nutrients that help the hair retain its natural elasticity.
Beer Spray
Did you know that beer is often added to shampoos? The malt beverage is said to have conditioning properties that also add shine and bounce to dull hair.
When using it to treat split ends, mix 3 tablespoons of beer with 1/2 cup of water. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle.
Shampoo as usual and then spray your hair with the beer, a little at a time. Leave in for a minute or two and then rinse well. Make sure, you use beer at room temperature.
