5 Natural Cures For Itchy Scalp

Itchy Scalp

An itchy scalp can be caused by a variety of reasons such as infestation with lice, fungal infection, dry scalp, ringworm infection of the scalp, psoriasis, bacterial and viral infections of the scalp and contact dermatitis. Fungal infections cause dandruff which causes uncommon itching and scaling of the skin.

As you scratch, white flakes keep falling off the scalp which looks very unsightly and unhygienic though hygiene has got nothing to do with dandruff as it is caused by an oily scalp. Dry scalp and contact dermatitis are usually caused by harsh chemicals found in shampoos and conditioners.

These substances irritate and inflame the skin of the scalp and cause itching, scaling, oozing and crusting. In psoriasis the skin becomes covered with thickened flat areas known as plaques. An itchy scalp is an extremely embarrassing condition which can result in hair damage and hair loss.
