What is Causing the Pulsing Sensation in My Stomach?

Aneurysms in the stomach can lead to a serious problem is not treated. Aneurysms in the stomach are also referred to as abdominal aneurysms. They occur on the aorta which is the largest artery in the human body. The aorta is responsible for the largest amount of blood transportation throughout the body. The aneurysm in the stomach is located on the lower half of the aorta. This part of the aorta is responsible for supplying blood to the lower half of the body.

The aneurysm occurs when a weakened area of a blood vessel wall becomes filled with blood and forms a balloon-like bulge. The bulge is the aneurysm. As the aneurysm continues to grow, the blood vessel becomes weaker. In severe cases, the aneurysm will rupture causing more serious health conditions to arise.

Aneurysms in the stomach usually do not have any symptoms until they rupture. Sometimes though, you will notice slight signs or symptoms. One of the main symptoms of an unruptured aneurysm in the stomach is lower back pain. This is caused by the lack of blood and oxygen flow and also the pressure from the aneurysm. You may also notice a slight pulsing sensation in the abdomen. It will be similar to a heartbeat. This is the blood flowing into the aneurysm.

Back Pain

There are many symptoms for aneurysms in the stomach that have ruptured. The most common symptom is severe pain in the stomach that spreads to the back and down the legs. The pain will be intense and can also cause nausea and vomiting. Other symptoms include chest pain, low blood pressure and even shock.

Stomach Pain

Treatment for aneurysms in the stomach is very minimal. In fact, there really is not treatment until after it has ruptured. Once it has ruptured, you will need to have one of two different surgeries to treat the aneurysm. Surgical clipping and endovascular coiling are the two that are offered. They both stop the blood flow into the aneurysm and relieve some of the pressure.

Aneurysms in the stomach can become very severe. Diagnosing them right away is the best way to stop other health problems from forming. If you notice any symptoms speak with your doctor about a possible diagnosis.
