Impetigo is a contagious bacterial infection on the skin that causes blisters and rashes mainly on face, skin, neck and upper thighs around genitals. Impetigo is classified as bullous and non-bullous. In bullous kind, the blisters are filled with fluid and are prone to rupture. It is also more contagious than non-bullous impetigo. This skin condition is mostly found in toddlers. The first thing to do is that keep other children away from the child who is suffering from this condition as it is contagious and separate all personal items like towels, clothes, brush etc..

Garlic

Garlic is anti-bacterial in nature. Crush a few cloves of garlic with a teaspoon of water. Now take the garlic infused water and apply it on the affected area. The garlic will relieve you from the itch and help in controlling the bacterial infection. Taking a clove of garlic on empty stomach with a glass of warm water is also recommended. This routine will keep the bowel movement healthy and help flush out the toxins from the system.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has been traditionally used for skin problems. It is anti-microbial in nature and thus helps in destroying the bacteria that causes Impetigo. In this condition the ruptured blisters form a raw tender crust on the skin which itches like crazy.

Application of Aloe Vera will moisturise this crust and dry area thereby reducing the itch and keeping the skin soft. You can also flush out the toxins inside the body by diluting one part Aloe Vera juice with two parts water. Have it first thing in the morning and last thing before going to bed in the night.

Turmeric is an elixir against the bacterial infections that inflict the skin and internal body. But when being used as a natural cure, turmeric should be obtained in its raw root form. Grind it to obtain the pure turmeric powder. Add a spoon of mustard oil to turmeric powder. Apply it directly on the skin. Both Turmeric and mustard oil are anti-bacterial and can help alleviate this condition. You may also mix turmeric in a glass of warm milk and consume it in the night for better results.

Golden seal is a herb that controls the infections. It contains chemicals like beta-hydrastine and canadine that makes it a lethal weapon against the skin infections caused by bacteria. You can grind this herb with some water to attain a paste like consistency. Apply it directly on the sores and infection. You can also grind it with half a bowl of water. Strain this water and apply it on the sores. You can refrigerate this water upto two days.

Tea tree  is an amazing herb that can cure numerous skin and hair problems. It is an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial herb. The oil itself is very strong and needs dilution. Add one part coconut or lavender oil to two parts of Tea tree oil. Apply on the sores directly at least twice a day until your infection is completely wiped off. Anti-biotic is administered by the doctors for this infection. However, in case of small children, parents are a little hesitant about giving strong medicines. In all such cases the Herbal remedies are a preferable and reliable way to proceed.
