NATURAL HOME REMEDIES FOR BLACKHEADS
Bookmark and Share

Blackheads are follicles that have wider opening than the normal. They are also known as open comedones and are often caused by over active sebaceous glands. Blackheads appear on the face, back, chest and other parts that have sebaceous glands. The blackheads are plugged with sebum and sloughed off cells and undergoes a chemical reaction that results in the oxidation of melanin. The residue formed in the follicle is responsible for providing black colour to the blackheads.

Remedy for Blackheads
I have been on the gin and raisins regime for over three months now and ALL of my inflamatory pain has gone away. Even my painful knee that I wore a brace on for years. I thought it was a joke but got tired of taking drugs and said what the heck! Wow! No longer in pain and I have more "pep in my step". Less than an ounce of gin per day, I can handle that!

Remedy for Blackheads
Take 2 eggs and separate the yolks and keep the egg white, apply egg white liquid directly to face where blackheads are present or use facial cotton and leave on face. For both techniques, leave on face for about 30-45 minutes. The egg white will harden so please dont move your face, better if you use under a fan.

dont wash your face with soap. wash your face with mud masks that you can buy at the store, or you can make your own out of clay that you can find in the sea. also wash your hair more often, and keep the hair out of your face.

#23 - Ankita - 11/15/2008 - 22:58
I used a pore strip which only removed the yellow layer of gunk but the black stuff was still there. So I put some lemon juice and honey on my nose and it didn't remove them all but it washed away a bit of dirt... I'm still trying to find the perfect remedy - but so far this is good.
#24 - Kat - 11/28/2008 - 20:43
Take a tablespoon of Knox gelatin and a tablespoon of milk, mix together, and put them in the microwave for ten seconds. Use a cosmetic brush to spread across affected area. Let it sit and harden for about ten minutes. Peel off and you will see that your blackheads are gone!
#25 - Emily - 12/07/2008 - 13:02
crack open an egg and use the inner skin of the eggshell and place enough of the skin to cover up the blackhead. this draws it up until its ready to either burst on its own or for you to do the job. also dab with a q-tip a bit of rubbing alcohol, then peroxide, and finally a tad bit of sea salt which will help with the drying it up process. just had one on my nose and by using these methods, it only lasted the weekend.
#26 - Beanz - 12/09/2008 - 10:27

Dont do the baking soda and water!!!! I now have a red, burning blotch on my face. Oh, and by the way, I still have blackheads!!!!
#36 - patty - 03/21/2009 - 07:56
Maybe its just me but I tried the honey and it made my face worse with blackheads along with other pimples!
#37 - val - 04/03/2009 - 23:34
I tried the baking soda and milk and I also ended up with a red and burning face for hours. Face feels and looks better today but blackheads are more noticable. I usually do pore cleanser strips after a hot shower and it works better than any remedy I have tried. Ran out so I might try steaming and then egg whites with lemon. Hopefully it works.
#38 - Mo - 04/05/2009 - 10:59
dont use lemon jucie it burned part of skin!:-[]
#39 - peelee - 04/17/2009 - 15:42
apply cucumber juice every alternate day.it will help you remove blackheads over a time.
#40 - mona - 04/19/2009 - 06:16
:-) just tried the squashed banana method and I love it . while applying it I felt my skin totally freshed and I stayed with the banana mask on for like 20 min . After it has dried I washed my face with warm water. My skin feels brighter and softer, and as far as for the blackheads : they really did become less darker , so I guess I'll continue using the squashed banana and see if these ugly things will goooo
#41 - souad - 04/25/2009 - 00:39
I once tried the tomato paste on my face .. it burned a loot even though I have an oily skin and the next day pimples were covering my face..
#42 - souad - 04/25/2009 - 00:44
>-( i have horrible acne and no matter how many remedys i try none of them work. DONT DO THE TOMATO, LEMON, OR BAKING POWDER remedy those make your face burn, increase acne, or cause an itchy blotchy spot. i am in the process of trying the egg liner one. ( take the inside of the egg, there is "skin" there, place over acne (anytype) and leave for 2, 3 minutes. roll off.)
#43 - a girl - 04/26/2009 - 17:24
steam is the best way to minimize blackheads. dont use orange, lemon or any other thing, it may worse ur skin.
#44 - Sahib - 05/11/2009 - 05:13
steam your face for 5-10 minutes
pat dry with clean towel
mix warm honey, nutmeg, lime zest and juice
apply the mixture and leave on face for 30 minutes.
it makes your skin smooth, soft, helps heal acne scars
and helps with blackheads. Use continously for a week and you'll see a BIG difference in your skin. Trust me its amazing!!
#45 - yo momma - 05/23/2009 - 20:16
take a cloth the size of your face and soak it in water as hot as you can stand it. Put it on your face until the cloth cools. Then wash your face with nutrogena blackhead remover. Hope this helps, it worked for me!!!!
#46 - horsey girl!! - 05/25/2009 - 14:46
Ive been dealing with acne for a while and it really bothers me having it.Whats the best way to get red of most of it??>-(
#47 - c-c - 05/26/2009 - 19:13
i've always just used biore pore strips every couple of days (they tell u not to do it more than once every 3 days). however, my mom told me one of her friends said that elmer's glue pretty much works the same way..ya know how glue peels after it dries? also, i can see how someone suggested aloe vera, it does the same thing too...maybe anything that sticks and peels? lol
#48 - Cchica - 05/26/2009 - 22:26
you can put lemon juice on your face for 10 minutes, HOWEVER this is a once in two weeks or for the most once a week formula. there is a good chemical reaction but if used to often it will dry out your face and that's not good pimple wise, can you get pimples if ur face is too dry or too oily. most effective for my was parsley and cinnamon boiled in milk and placed oon my faced for 15 mins a day. i saw an article on it in my local papers and didn't think it would work to be honest, but it, quite well
#49 - lola - 05/26/2009 - 22:30
i meant you can, not can you. also for pimples (i know this is a blackhead convention) you can spot treat with honey mixed in cinnamon. it is the most gentle and effective home made remedy. actually you just google it and see the many sites that agree. it is the least likely to leave you with a blackhead
#50 - lola - 05/26/2009 - 22:39
Some useful home remedies for blackheads that you can try:-

a)Wash your face using warm or cool water.I mean "warm water",not hot water.

b)Use sorbitol or glycerin soap such as neutrogena to wash your face twice a day because it is gentle in your skin.

c)When you want to make up,use hypo-allergenic brand.

d)Always remember to keep your pillow and also your towel clean.

e)Honey is not only good in taste but also good for blackheads. You can apply honey in affected area in your face as it is more safer than any creams available in the market.

f)Drink 8 glasses of water daily as it is good for your health.

g)Last but no the least is your daily eating habit.Eat healthy foods such as veggies, fruits, whole wheat foods and nuts and avoid oily foods.Fast foods and junk foods is a big no.

Hope these will do the tricks....

Does anyone use ProActiv? It doesn't work for me at all. Rofl. To get rid of black heads, I use the clean and clear blackhead scrub. It works really well if you use it every night.

i heard that if u have a pimple to use toothpaste it will dry the pimple and then pop but im not sure it works?
#58 - sophia - 07/13/2009 - 15:44
If the lemon juice is burning your skin try adding water to it . . .
#59 - GoodTip - 07/17/2009 - 08:34
I tried most of these and none of them worked but I tried avocado mixed up with olive oil. It left my skin soft an reduced the blackheads.
Some people complained that they got many pimples after they used one of the remedies. Thats supposed to happen. If you keep using the method it will clean your face completely ;-)
#60 - Jasmine - 07/20/2009 - 13:23
Well, my skin has a schedule. Here is what I do.

Monday= morning, I wash it with clean and clear foaming astringent, and warm water. Then sometime later during the day I apply an egg white mask for a half hour and wash it off with warm water. At night, I go with the Clearsil Ultra (which gives you clear skin in 3 MONTHS..not days), then Clearasil foaming pads, St. Ives astringent, then Clean and Clear stuff again, which I recomend, it sucks the oil right out of your face.

Tuesday= Morning is Clean and Clear foaming astringent, then I repeat monday nights regimen for tuesday night

Wenesday=monday

thursday=tuesday

friday=tuesday

on weekends I repeat trhe tuesday's. And if need I use banana then aply band aid after banana mask has dried. 10 minutes later bye bye blackheads. Toothpaste for pimples also works after a couple days (no gel paste)
#61 - Brianna - 08/04/2009 - 22:26
wash your face regularly...
drink lots of water...
avoid constipation problems.. add green vegatables and fruits to the daily food. Apply cucmber, papaya and banana paste and leave it for 10 minutes, and wash your face.. It works.
#62 - Sudhakar - 08/06/2009 - 11:43
:-o

#58: yes the toothpaste can dry out the pimple but you have to be VERY careful because it can also dry/burn the skin.. (i have a scar from trying this and doing it wrong once)... if you use toothpaste use only a light amount and don't apply it for long. wash it off in like a few min...
#63 - mercury - 08/07/2009 - 18:20

#64 - a girl - 08/10/2009 - 02:43
NO! Don't EVER use Tea Tree Oil at full strength on your face! It MUST be diluted in a carrier oil, or I wet a cotton ball first and THEN put the TTO on it. It does do a phenomenal job of keeping the skin clean and refreshed if used PROPERLY!
#65 - CMC - 08/10/2009 - 18:08
i use Australian Tea Tree Oil (it's 75% rubbing alcohol) to dry out any acne/pimples that I have and completely remove dirt, I apply it with a wash cloth, like an astringent, then rinse my face with warm water and wash it with a mild facial soap and apply oil-reducing moisturizer. I have done the egg white mask, and i feel like it is effective, but it can get expensive if you do it daily.

One thing is for certain, scraping your face with credit cards will remove the blackheads, however you will have bruises and scratches all over your face and your face will be puffy for about 24 hours.

So... be careful who you get your ideas from.
#66 - shay - 08/15/2009 - 17:33
I tried a masque of Royal Jelly with bee pollen and mixxed with baking powder and lemon juice- thick mask.... wore it for about fifteen minutes. Sponged off with soap and water lightly.... honey is so good for your skin, Loved - twas marvelous.
#67 - Spectator - 08/15/2009 - 23:58
OH MY GOODNESS!!! PLEASE DON'T LISTEN TO ALL OF THESE REMEDIES WITHOUT GETTING A 2ND 3RD AND 4TH OPINION!!! IF IT'S NATURAL.. SUCH AS BANANA, HONEY, TOMATO, ETC... USE IT--BUT DON'T SMEAR YOUR FACE.. TEST ON A LESS SENSITIVE AREA LIKE YOUR NOSE BEFORE U TRUST THAT SOMEONE ELSES RESULT WILL WORK THE SAME FOR YOU. WATER IS THE BEST SKIN PURIFIER.. ALSO DIET IS IMPORTANT. I "EAT CLEAN" [THE EAT CLEAN DIET BY TOSCA RENO]. THAT HAS AIDED IN PREVENTING NEW BREAKOUTS. I'M IN THE PROCESS OF COMING UP WITH A NATURAL REMEDY THAT WILL BE 100 PERCENT SUCCESSFUL AT REMOVING BLACKHEADS.. WHEN I FIND IT I WILL POST.
#68 - TRUTHBTOLD - 08/20/2009 - 11:37
Elmer's glue. It works like a biore strip but is a heck of a lot cheaper. It doesn't burn your skin. You peel it off after about 5-10 minutes and you can see the results.
Try putting warm water on the area before you do it and then dry. That will open the pores better.
#69 - Suggestion - 08/21/2009 - 16:53
"you are what you eat"
so your diet is your key to beautiful, acne and black head free (also dark circles under eyes free) skin.

1) eat a lot of almond - great for prevention and cure for acne, blackheads, your brain cells and your hair! plus it DOES NOT BURN YOUR SKIN :)

2) drink lots of water, this keeps your skin tight, smooth and wrinkle free, along with acne free.

3) cucumbers, works great ontop of your skin, and when you eat them.

4) egg whites, but not too oily if fried.

if you eat these and natural things daily, your acne and black heads will go away faster than all the trouble of experiments on your skin.
#70 - justanote - 08/22/2009 - 21:35
all those ideas sound really crazy but hey have to give it a try.
#71 - destiny - 08/24/2009 - 02:31
One part Rubbing Alcohol and One part Baby Powder. Use as a mask. Once dried gently rinse face with luke warm water and wash face with a mild cleanser such as Neutrogena.

cello tape does work on the nose, but you need a strong one, like duct tape, but not too strong you don't want to stretch your nose out.

Banana is a very good one! I used it one night and squashed a bit of banana on my face after I had a shower and then waited till it dried up. Then I washed my face with warm water. It leaves your face fresh for days. I think it's really effective! I don't know if it removed my blackheads cos I only used it once, I will use it again for sure. :-D

I have recently started seeing blackheads on the sides of my back, beneath my bra strap area and i think it is somehow related with the suffocation of the skin, and keeping dead skin cells and dirt/oil trapped on the surface...probably will try the banana but cleaning with cottonball/alcohol removed more dirt than i could have imagined was there, so we will see if that helps...it reminds me of clearasil pads when i was younger:)
