Constipation Remedy - Vegetarian Treatment
Become a vegetarian which uses lots of roughage which aids your digestive track to function smoothly. This, coupled with a good, consistent schedule of work out and peace of mind will surely do the trick.

I just had surgery which precluded me from excercising and eating my usual great vegetarian diet so I'm late with 8 days. Otherwise...it works like a clock! :o) Adela

listen, i had this problem. i couldn't go to school until i pooped somthing out otherwise i would be with a stomache for the rest of the day and it's uncomfortable to learn and concentrate. what i reccomend to do is eat purely and only vegetables and fruits, drink alot of water (up to 8 glasses), eat fiber (good cereal:Go Lean; eat it two hours before going to sleep), and about prune NO! don't reccomend this because it might have your stomach twirling all day. follow it as a strict diet and it will surely work! i just had to do it for two weeks but now went back to my regular food eating and i can finally use the bathroom every morning when i wake up WITHOUT NO PROBLEM

THE ULTIMATE CURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go out and buy Mangosteen juice (I used Lakewood brand). The recommended 1oz. 3 times a day, but drink at least 2oz. at least 4 times a day. Its a little bit expensive, but totally worth it and VERY good for you. This worked for me after a doctor told me that I needed a strong drug to make me go.
#18 - Chena - 10/18/2008 - 19:16
I've had good luck with Egyptian Licorice tea. I use the Yogi Tea brand, but health food stores should have others if you can't find this one. I just make a cup of this tea in the evenings when I need to get back to regular.

I found the ULTIMATE cure and it has worked wonders for all of the people that have tried it. Every morning for 2 - 3 weeks. Eat 2-3 table spoons of peanut butter mixed with mollassses. It might not taste so good, but its guarenteed to regulate your bowel movements
#21 - New Jersey - 11/26/2008 - 23:14
I have serious problems with this. I will be more than 5 days without a BM. I have tried so many things but nothing seems to work regurlay. Sometime I tried things that work once or twice and then nothing. I read on this board something about Peanutbutter and mollasses. I'm going to try this to see what happens.~ thank you for sharing what had worked for you
#22 - Maria C - 12/11/2008 - 06:04
Its not what will always help you go when you havent been in a few days.. You have too have a proper eating diet, or this problem will always happen... the best way is too sort out a proper eating chart and stick too it.. and i promise you all this will go.. i had a very bad childhood with this and had too see docotors and all sorts.. not very nice.. but it was from eating all kinds of crap... soon as i changed to a healthy diet after 16 years of this kind of pain an trouble, i have never had it since.. im 23 now and im out everyday after work walking for a few hours with th dogs.. always drinkin water, instead of coke or lager.. never eat sweets or chocolate... it all sounds silly, but i feel so much healthyer now, and id never go back to my old habbits... i hope this helps some one, and i hope people follow in a nice fresh diet..

Many thanks for your time..
#23 - north w - 12/11/2008 - 09:56
Had to comment on the tbs of brown sugar followed by a glass of cold water. Brown sugar is actually white sugar with molasses. Probably would also work with just the molasses.

Besides eating a bowl of weatabix every morning, take a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water twice a day if you can, the results will speak for themselves. Apple Cider Vinegar is second to none for all stomach upsets including bloating, belching, hiccups. It also prevents nausea and vomiting. It prevents flu and colds. Everyone should have a bottle, used everyday, no more complaints. Use it mixed with equal parts of water for skin applications to reduce puffiness under eyes, dark circles, acne, pimples, it even clears blackheads. Try it, you will not try anything else!

I suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Quite recently I've been drinking loads of pineapple juice which has lessened the need for laxatives. I'd learned this piece of information from someone and their pet rabbit. The rabbit had swallowed a hairball and it needed help to pass through it's system. The rabbit's owner fed it pineapple juice which helped the rabbit flush the hairball out of its digestive system. This may sound unusual, but it was this information that helped me realise how pineapple juice can also help people. Try it and you might be surprised how effective pineapple juice is for a person's digestive system. =o)

Give pressure to the middle part of your chin for 2-6 minutes with your pointer (second finger) while sitting in the toilet. This will help in solving the constipstion problem.

Dip a Green Tea Bag in 6 oz cup of boiling water, then add 1/2 tsp of natural honey. After it cools enough to drink down, wait less than 1/2 hour. Voila!! Do this every morning and your colon will love you.
#36 - dee - 02/16/2009 - 10:15
Chocolate Smooth Moves Tea works wonders, but it is considered a "laxative" tea, so I don't think it's good to use on a regular basis.
#37 - pito - 02/18/2009 - 07:10
Eat one container of activia lite yogurt, any flavor everyday. Was the only thing that worked every time for me after 26 years of off and on constipation.

I have a chocolate fascination so while at work i brought a twirl and dipped it into my hot chocolate which was packed with sugar (i wasnt constipated) but i had to run to the loo. I figured out every time i did this i really needed the loo so im guessing it is a sort of laxative! Cheap and you dont have to spend ridiculous prices over the counter. Seriously its worth a try! Just make sure its alot of chocolate though maybe like cadburies chocolate bar or something. Good luck guys i hope it ends soon!!

I recently underwent surgery for rectum cancer and as a result was left with a permanent colostomy bag. My diet is poor and I didn`t drink more than a glass of water a day. Last night after going 10 days without passing anything of substance I decided to drink a pint of water. Two hours later I felt a hard piece of waste half protruding from the hole in my stomach,I removed the colostomy bag and strained a little. The result was spectacular, the hard waste( about the size of a wheel nut!) shot out and I was pouring waste out for five minutes. Today I`m still getting rid of waste and I feel so much better. WATER is what did it for me and I`m now determined to drink mainly water always. Goodluck people.

Now that I'm 31 I have severe constipation, not sure why. I went to the dr. He gave me a few different perscriptions. worked for a short bit. Good Luck

Hi all
My daughter is 4 yrs old. She is suffering from constipation almost all her life. Recently it bcame so bad. Last one month she almost never had a normal bowel movement. I used enemas three times (with doctors advice) to clean her bowel. Again she did not go for last three days. We went to doctor and he prescribed lactulose. We are giving that for last one week but not working. So lets tell u what I m tryng now.
I give her one glass of little warm water in the morning in empty stomach. Then she eats her breakfast . I give her one tablsespoon of olive oil with some pear juice. during launch and dinner evryday I give her broccoli or spinach with rice and chicken/fish. everyday during dinner I give her one tbs of flex seed powder with dinner and after dinner at least one glass of water. Everyday at least once a tbs of brown sugar followed by a glass of water. everyday she eats few pieces of cantalope and apple/ pear. Then I blend some cantaole and feed her that too. I restricted her milk by 16 oz. I give her a tbs of corn syrup with milk. I used to give her 8 oz prune juice everyy morning for few months but recently I stopped it becasue it is not working. Poor girl, drinks at leat 5 glass of water everyday. I don't give almost any junk food to her. Recently I read a procedure "applying few drops of castor oil on naval" during night time. I even tried that. I tried gentle tummy message, positive re-enforcement. Nothing is working. Anyone, please give me some ideas.
(lemon with water is not good for her)
Thanks.

:-( been stopped up my entire life. i'm the brunt of too many family jokes. remember parents giving me castoria as a child. 41 years later, colonoscopy, watermelon, warm water in the a.m. raisin bran(8grams of fiber) benefiber, prune juice, only drink water whole life, phasing out white food. 'go' once a week. friend sells herbs and she has suggested a daily regimen of 3500mg vitamin c, 3 capsules of magn complex, probiotic(acidopholus), a product called 'gentle move,' freeze dried aloe vera to sooth and calm stomach lining, chlorphyll to keep the good flora good(1T for every 16oz of water) and 2-3food enzymes before each meal to aid in digestion. it's quite a regimen and one that i hope to do for a week or two and then phase out one or two, continue to cut out white. if this works, it will truly be a miracle!!!!!!!!! happy cra**ing

Keep up on the water, too! Another key aspect to squatting when removing your bowels is making sure you have enough folate in your diet. If you don't, you can squat and still be constipated! A quick-acting dose could be a tall glass of grapefruit juice or a raw spinach salad or both!
In conclusion, drink your water, get your folate, and most important...SQUAT WHEN YOU GO!

Recently I've had to take some pain pills which left me very constipated. Laxitives haven't worked. Exercise and eating healthy made me feel better but still no BM. I've tried every home remedy on the site. [For the exception of sticking my finger up my ass!!!] What eles can a person do?

When I first started having this problem last year, I had a colonoscopy last and the only thing they found was a polyp(pre-cancerous). After the procedure they prescribed Citrucel, and told me "don't strain" because I had so many hemorrhoids from trying so hard to go. Sigh. Anyways, for awhile it was fine, but recently the problem has returned. I usually know I have to go but it just won't come out. If its been a day or two I will head to the bathroom knowing my impending doom...I have to wet my finger and stick it up there and bingo, there's always four or five very hard lumps that I have to (PAINFULLY!) coax down, and then after that SO much soft or almost runny stool that comes down. I don't try to push hard but I have crazy hemorrhoids...could that be why my stool is not coming down? Hermorrhoid blockage? If anyone has a knowledgeable answer please let me know! Its so miserable and my insides burn! I have to spend at LEAST twenty minutes on the toilet if I decide to poo, and my finger always stinks! Haha.

Ajwain seeds (Trachyspermum copticum
) - 1/2 tea spoon. It is peppery to taste - almost like thyme.

We dry roast them , add a pinch of salt (for taste) and chew them well (basically it has to assimilate into your saliva). Follow it up with a glass of luke warm water. Do this an hour after your lunch AND dinner for 2 days.

Traditionally this we consider a sure shot , good ole gramma remedy for indigestion and poor bowel movement. It works like charm for us.

You can obtain Ajwain seeds from any Indian grocery stores. It is not very expensive .

The way you sit on the toilet has an effect on how you pass your bowel movement. My Dr. told me to put me feet up. This helps the flow of your Bowel. This will help your child as well. I just prop my bathroom trash can under my feet. It's easy. Also coffee will work as a quick laxative, but be near a restroom as it will have a quick effect for you IBS people. Hope this helps you.

1)Banana a day (without missing)will keep the constipation away. It really works.
2)Take green leafy veg everyday without fail.
3) Intake of carrot, more veg, plenty of water regularly will restructure your digestive system.
4)Cut the papaya into half. Divide the 1/2 papaya into 3 pieces (for morning, afternoon and night)and eat 1peice each with breakfast, lunch & Dinner. Consume the left half portion the next day. So 1 papaya for 2 days as your regular food supplimentary.

Hello all! My mother reccently had problems with constipation and, being the health nut I am, I set to work to help her solve it. She has a colon problem and can't (well, not suppose to) eat nuts or corn, etc. but she has been and she paid the price with constipation. I bought her some Aloe juice (you can find at local Asian markets), honey, and just some regular coffee and had her drink 3 cups throughout the day of each. Actually worked like a charm. She had been stoved up with intense pain for 4 days. She also eats guacomole(sp?) when she doesn't have time to make the drinks, and that seems to have helped a lot, too. Another tip: Google foods high in fiber and try to eat those.

Hi all. I have been reading all of your posts and plan to try some of the thing that are available to me. I live in a small town so we don't have a huge selection of non common veggies, fruits, herbal supplsements. Here is my story. I have had constipation issues since i was a baby. I am now 33. My parents used to give me soap enema's I remember the pain well since it never did stop. I am taking a new therapy drug called subutex after taking up 160 vicodin a month that yes my old doctor had me taking and I had several severe constipation issues with that, but it seemed if I kept up on my senecot every night I went every morning. I have not had a bowe movement in 8 days now and I am miserable. I have tried everything I had at home. Senecot, miralax, fiber choice supplements, lubrication, enema all in the past 16 hours and I was able to pass with much painful pushing two small hard poo's I can feel the pain in my rectum from the pushing. I am even having to push to pee and then my butt bleeds, but still no poop. I am miserable and just took my bedtime dose of senecot. How can a person take all this stuff with no results. Oh and the water I am drinking is insane. Like 8-10 bottles every single day. Can anyone please help with something that will make me go with no pain and with the stuff I should be able to find in our local small pharamacy or grocery store. I am just miserable. I have a 19 month old daughter who needs my attention and all I did today was sit on the toliet trying to go. Please Help!!

I had been backed up for days, tried Dilcolax, and an enema-nothing-I found this site and 2 people said put your index finger in the middle of your chin and apply pressure for 5 minutes-and out it came! I am in complete SHOCK and RELIEF!! Try it!

To Roxana, my daughter is 5, and has had extreme constipation issues since birth. One month she went three times only. She was obviously very ill. Large daily doses of miralax, zantac, plenty of fluids, and high fiber diet usually work. Took quite a while before we found out that the combination of Mirilax and zantac was what worked. You may want to google Hershprungs (sp?) disease and see if that seems to possibly fit. She's doing badly again, so we are trying mollases and oil for tonight. Poor girl!

I take morphine tabs for pain...very constipating! The peanut butter with maple syrup, a cup of quite warm water, then slow sit-ups or push-ups for 5 minutes does the trick for me.
