The vermiform appendix is a vestigial part in the body which is in the shape of a tube. This means that the appendix does not perform any major function in the body but, in case an infection occurs in the appendix, then it may result in a severe outcome. The appendix is located in the abdomen, attached to the lower end of the large intestine. In case an inflammation of the appendix occurs, it is called appendicitis. This problem has to be treated with an immediate effect.
It usually begins with a dull ache in the middle region of the abdomen which gradually intensifies followed by indigestion, constipation and diarrhea. It also results in nausea and loss of appetite. It occurs if mucus obstructs the cavity of the appendix. This obstruction occurs due to the excessive amount of poisonous waste material in caecum. A low enema of about 500 ml. of warm water can be given every day for the initial three days of the onset of appendicitis. This cleanses the lower bowel and treats the acute problem. This can be followed by a treatment of full enema containing about 3 liters of warm water every day until the inflammation and pain disappears.
A mixture of lemon juice and honey is extremely beneficial in facilitating proper digestion and also in treating indigestion. Have two to three glasses of honey and lemon juice mixed in water every day.
