Home Remedies for Blemishes


Honey

Properties: Honey is one of the most common home remedies for blemishes. It is useful in healing process of blemishes and destroying the bacteria present on the skin.

Treating blemishes at home using honey:
Apply some honey on the affected area and place a band aid over it. Let it stay overnight and remove it in the morning. Repeat this process until you see your blemish fade away.

Make a paste of honey, lemon and turmeric and apply on the affected area daily for 30 minutes and then wash off with cold water. It not only lightens the blemishes but brings a glow to the skin.

Tea Tree Oil

Properties: Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic, antibacterial and antiviral oil which helps in the reduction of blemishes. It is easily available at any drug store.

Treating blemishes at home using tea tree oil:
Simply apply pure tea tree oil over the affected area using a cotton ball. Repeat this process thrice in a day until your blemishes disappear.

Strawberries

Properties: Strawberries not only help in dealing with acne due to the presence of salicylic acid but they are also beneficial in the lightening of pigmentation problem. Therefore they are one of the best home remedies for blemishes. They also help in keeping the skin healthy, smooth and supple.

Make a paste of mashed strawberries and vinegar. Apply this paste on the affected area and let it stay overnight. You can place a towel on your pillow to prevent it from staining it. This process can be used even after the disappearance of the blemishes for a healthy and blemish free skin.


Lemon Juice

Properties: Lemon acts as natural bleach for our skin. It not only helps in lightening the skin and facial hair but also helps in reducing the blemishes on the skin.

Treating blemishes at home using lemon juice:
Apply lemon juice on the affected area overnight and wash your face in the morning.

Mix about 25 ml. each of lemon juice and tomato juice and keep it in the refrigerator. Apply this mixture daily on your face with the help of a cotton ball.

Orange as a Cure for Blemishes

Properties: All the products of an orange are beneficial for the skin. Orange is not just an effective remedy for a beautiful, healthy and supple skin but it also cures discoloration of the skin. Using orange for the skin even after the blemishes have completely faded away, prevents them from occurring in the future.

Treating blemishes at home using orange:
Make a mixture of orange juice and homey in equal quantities and apply over the blemishes. Let it stay for 5 minutes and then wash it off. Orange is useful in absorbing the excessive oils on the skin while honey treats and fades the blemishes.

In case of a darker tone of skin, mix the powder of dried orange and lemon peels with rose water and cream of milk. Apply this paste at least once in a day for 30 minutes and wash it off with cold water. This is one of the best home remedies for blemishes.


Potato Juice as a Treatment for Blemishes

Properties: Potato juice one of the best known natural skin bleaches. It is not only effective in order to clear blemishes but is the most effective treatment in cases of acne scars.

Treating blemishes at home using potato juice:
Potato juice is rich in nutrients like potassium, sulphur, chlorine and phosphorus which help in fading of blemishes on the skin.

Apply an ice cube wrapped in a towel or a soft cloth and apply it on the blemish for around 5 minutes. It is an effective treatment for blemishes. It can be applied as soon as you see a blemish emerging.

Egg whites are also useful in treating blemishes on the skin. The egg white can be simply applied on the affected area at night and washed in the morning. This gradually fades the blemishes.

Mashed cucumber mixed with rosewater is also a helpful natural cure for blemishes. A paste of this mixture used in the form of a facial mask helps to reduce the blemishes.

Make a paste of sandalwood powder and water and apply over the affected area on the skin. It helps in preventing as well as treating blemishes like pimples, scars, marks or boils on the skin. It also provides relief in case of pain caused by these blemishes.

A very common home remedy for blemishes is toothpaste (not the gel based). Apply a small quantity of toothpaste over the blemish and wash it off once it dries. This helps in reducing the blemishes.

Applying a paste of almonds and yogurt is advantageous in cleansing, exfoliating and removing blemishes caused due to pigmentation. It gives a healthy glow to the skin as well.

Avoid oil based cosmetics as they are more likely to cause blemishes due to the high content of oil in them.

Apply a paste of mashed carrots on the face and rinse it off with a mixture of cold milk and water after 20 minutes.

Diet for Blemishes


Increase the intake of foods rich in vitamin A, C and E along with selenium and zinc. These nutrients facilitate in the treatment for blemishes as well as prevent the occurrence of blemishes in the future.

Avoid the intake of foods that have a high content of oil and fats in them.

Reduce the intake of caffeine found in tea, coffee and chocolates.

Include healthy foods like oranges, gooseberries, guavas, lemons, broccoli, beans, red and yellow bell peppers along with nuts, seeds and whole grains in the diet for blemishes.

Have at least 6-7 glasses of water in a day.

Apply a paste or juice of unripe papaya on the face for the removal of blemishes.
